Help Screwed Up Evo

I got another Evo today problem is it constantly reboots, I thought that maybe if I root it and flash a rom it would take care of that situation. Now there's another problem, when the phone finally decides to boot up it wont unlock. I swipe the lock down to unlock but it just stays frozen there so I can't even go to settings and turn on USB debugging. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Did you end up rooting it then?
What rom did you flash?
What recovery do you have?
Just have to make sure the rom is for the Evo4g and proper wiping from recovery before a rom flash is key

I couldn't root it because when the phone boots up it wont unlock. It stays frozen, its stock nothing special done to it

can I just download it from my other phone and save it onto its SD card then put it in the Evo?

here is the ruu.exe for what you need:

1.go to your bootloader on your phone (power off or pull the battery out then back in then press and hold power+vol down).
2.connect the phone to the pc
3.download the file and run it.
hopefully that will get your phone working again. if not then we can try something else.
