Help Scrolling in a sub-box?

Hi,

If I'm on a webpage that has text embedded in a box with its own scroll bar, is there any way to scroll through that box?

I can't figure anything out on any browser.

Thanks

EDIT: Like this for example

Well it's a shoutbox in a forum, so you have to log in to see it

I've tried firefox, default, and Dolphin HD, but I'm not sure if the issue is the browser or not

Because you press and drag to scroll, but if i press on an area in the shoutbox and drag, it just always moves the whole page down

Try skyfire.

Thank you for posting an example. I don't quite understand what I'm looking at.

It could just be the coding of the website isn't compatible with Android browsers.

What is your UA string set to in the browsers? Try 'desktop' or 'ipad'.

So, see how the code box has its own scroll bar? And if you scroll down the last line has 4 periods?

On my 3vo, with any browser (haven't tried skyfire yet), that scroll bar isn't displayed, and you can't ever see the bottom line (or any that are normally discovered by scrolling down)

If you go to this page on your android device, there is no way (to my knowledge) to ever get to that last line, I was wondering if anybody else had found a fix to that

is this site a site designed for mobile handsets or is it the full version?

have you tested the UA strings in the browser settings?

again if you want to share the website, others can chime in possibly.

have you asked the dev of the website if its compatible with mobile browsers?

It's not a question about a specific site, it's a general question true of any site, desktop or mobile.

If there is an embedded text box with a scroll bar, is there any way to scroll through that material instead of scrolling down the whole page

I provided an example above: The last line of that text box has 4 periods, does anyone know of a way to be able to view that last line on the Evo 3d?

ok what you are asking is if you can mimic, say, a mouse pointer by "clicking and dragging".

this cant be done on these browsers. ive wanted to "double click" on something on a site and was unable to mimic the mouse "double click" so it is safe to ASSume what you are experiencing is a limitation of these browsers. this is not specific to EVO or any particular handset and has occurred on other devices.

No Im not asking about click and drag, Im asking about scrolling

You can scroll down a webpage without click and drag, so I was wondering if anyone knew a way to do it in embedded text.

Its fine if you dont know, Ill just leave this thread open in case another member sees it and knows of a way.

Not all mobile browsers are the same, thats why i asked if anyone knew of a browser could do it, i obviously havent tried every single browser on the market

iOS can do it, so its not like its impossible

sure there are things IOS can do and there are things IOS cant do.

same can be said for Android.

I am not trying to suggest this is impossible on the Android system. It's not currently possible.

the legit browsers are are:

Firefox
skyfire
dolphin

in addition to the stock.

there are some other browsers out but many of them are not trusted.

I'm picking up what you're laying down ;), I am only offering some discussion.

could be worth searching the google discussion threads on the google usergroups and seeing if someone has a ticket in about it.

Lol there are tons more "legit" browsers, i dont use any of those

Those are just the popular ones

Good idea about the usergroups, I'll check that out

I had the same problem, UC browser works like a pro in this and so far is the only one. They won't let me post links because I'm new but just search UC Browser on google play. Browser is kinda chunky but worth it.

Happy scrolling!!

Now for some reason it won't work on the text box you embedded, but it does on the website i need it to work for my job. Go figure... So.... good luck, i hope this suggestion helped.
