Root Sd card blank can not mount?

I pluged my Ally in to charge last night and everything was fine. When I tried to listen to music today it said sd card blank, no music, pics, or apps. My computer does not see it now and I cant even reformat. Any help would be great. I am on Velocity 1.1 .

My phone did the same thing a couple of weeks ago... the way I fixed it was removed the SD card, turned off phone and computer, restarted both, then when my phone was all booted up I put the SD card back in and voila, it worked. I'm not sure exactly which part of this fixed it but nonetheless it did fix it... at least for me.

I think its just one of those weirdo random bugs that pops up from time to time. Hope this helps.

Tried that no luck. I even took it out the phone put it in a card reader still nothing. I read on another forum that slacker can cause this.

Bummer, maybe your SD card really is fried (dead)... that would be unfortunate. Just out of curiosity, what is slacker?

It could be the phone or just an old sdcard. Some of the lower class cards don't last the many write cycles it recieves from normal use. I'm on my second card with my second phone and all I can say is don't trust any reliable data with this technology

I haven't seen any die yet... You should be able to format it with a PC that has a cardreader, or one of those microSD -> USB adapters

Tried both already no luck. Its only about 7 months old but i used it a lot and took it out of the phone and put it in my pc to put media on and off it so i guess i could have worn it out. I have an old 1gb that i am going to use for a few days to see if it happens again before i buy a new one. Only thing bad is my computer had a virus a cupple of weeks ago and i had to do a factory reset and lost my backup and had not made another one yet so I lost a lot of good pics of my family.

Dismounting the SD card and removing it, while the phone is powered, can cause this (not sure why but I suspect it doesn't get properly dismounted). This happened to me a couple times before it was suggestesd to me to NEVER remove the SD card unless the battery is pulled from the phone. It is best to use the OEM USB cable directly to a USB port (no hubs!) on your PC to prevent this. Any kind of possibly malfunctioning connection can do it in a heartbeat while transferring files. I have the 'official' LG Desktop Dock for the Ally. I can only use it to charge the Ally. It causes the same issues with the SD card if I try to transfer files using the dock.

One more thing that can cause SD failure is a defective SD/USB adapter if you use one. I found that out the hard way. It seemed to be working fine when I had pulled the battery and removed the SD to make backup copies of it on my PC. Yet 3 times a brand new SD card experienced this same sudden failure. I replaced the adapter and no more problems.

However, I now make complete backups of the SD via USB cable every weekend just to be safe. I got sick of losing files. I then burn the backups to disc for safe keeping.

My 4 gig fried about 2 weeks after I bought it. Guy at bestbuy returned it for a brand new San disk 4gb since it was still during return policy.
