Help SD Card Full - swap for bigger card

Just to let you know I upgraded my SD card last weekend and it all went beautifully using your instructions. Many thanks !!! :)

Just copied the old SD card to my PC, took out the old card, put the new one in and copied back.

Ok I read what you said I I need more help for a novice here. My phone is plugged into my PC & I found the file Android. Must I open each file & sub file within & move them 1 at a time or if I move the android folder will that move them all? & then just do the reverse of what you tell me here to put them back onto my phone after I switch out to the bigger SD card correct?
Thanks, I live overseas so I will check back later. Thanks everyone. You all rock with your help & support.

Just connect the phone to the computer in disk drive mode, so that the card appears like any other removable usb disk.

Then copy the entire content of the card to a folder on the computer. Make sure you get hidden files and folders (names starting with .), but you shouldn't have to go into the folders and copy files individually - unless you have a strange setup on the computer copying a folder should copy its contents.

What operating system are you using?

You file explorer app should have a setting to show hidden files, or show/hide system files (depending on what OS). Just make sure it's set to show you everything.

As a test, if you've moved any apps at all to sd you should have a folder called .android_secure on the card. In which case, if you can't see that, you aren't seeing everything.

What do you mean "an android file"? I don't know what you are referring to.

Please tell us exactly what you are doing, in detail.

And have you moved any apps to sd? If not you may not have .android_secure.
