Help SD card help

I own the Incredible 2 and I noticed today that I was unable to listen to music from the SD card. I synced my music using Winamp, but whenever I open winamp on the phone it says SD card error searching sd card. I even tried listening to music on the preinstalled music app, and that one says to insert a SD card. I have restarted the phone, unmounted and mounted the sd card, physically taken the card out of the phone but nothing has worked. I have a few apps on the SD card and I am able to use them just fine so I don't think that the card is corrupt or anything like that. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks for the quick reply. It is the SD card that I got with the phone. I installed the program that you recommended and its running a test right now. It says there's 30 minutes left. I'll let you know what it says when its done.

Test just finished with no errors. I have 5 gigs of files on there but in my phone options there is apparently no option to format the SD card without formatting the internal memory as well.

Do you have a File Explorer on the phone, like Astro or ES File Explorer? Can you check to see if there is a file called .nomedia in the folders you've added your music to?

Can you try other MP3 files, just in case the files you're using are corrupt?

I've moved your thread to the Incredible 2 forum, just in case it's a common issue with the phone and other users may be able to assist.

When I open any music app on the phone, it isn't detecting any SD card. On the multiple music apps I've tryed I always get the error "Insert SD card". And I've played music files from the card on my computer.

Update: I tried using two other SD cards both of which work on other phones, and when I open the music apps it still isn't detecting any card. So at this point, is it just my phone that that isn't reading the cards properly? I really doubt that it is on the apps end considering I've tried three music players.

The only thing I could suggest is to do a factory reset. It sucks, but it seems that you have done everything, but that.

Before you go for a factory reset, you could try clearing the data and cache associated with the music apps? A long shot, but it might work.

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> "MUSIC APP NAME" -> Clear Data. Then Clear Cache.

Then, if that fails, you could try a factory reset.

I cleared both the cache and the data. At this point I'm thinking of calling Verizon and hope I don't get stuck with a crappy rep.

I was going to start a new thread for this but, since this one is dealing with music files, stock music player and whatnot... Here I go.

Recently I have been adding a lot of music to my Dinc2. I have ripped some CD's I own to a pc and moved them to my phone. Them problem I am having now is that the music I ripped and moved to the phone shows on the sd card as .wma file format and is not showing up in the stock music player. I want to use the stock music player on the phone because of the SRS enhancement. It makes the music sound good to me, on the headphones and in my truck using the cassette adapter.
I have downloaded other music also that does not show up in the stock music player, Why? They are .mp3 files?
What folder do I Need to create on the sd card that I can put my all my music in that will make it show up in the stock player?
I tried winamp, but no SRS enhancement in that, I understand the srs enhancement is only available in the stock music player.
Wimamp made some music show up in the player that did not in the stock...and some were missing. I also tried android music player amd had the same mixed results.
A lot of the music is in the folder called my_music. I think that folder is created natively by the stock player.
All the other music is in a folder called mp3

Any help? is is possible to do this with varoius formats to get all of the music files to show up in the stock player:confused:

TIA

I'm confused. It sounded at first like you had .wma files, but you later said you had .mp3 files. Android music players for the most part won't play .wma files. If that is what you are having a problem with, try converting them to .mp3.

I have a mixture of .wma files amd .mp3 files i have as music.
I have got the .wma files to show up in the stock music player by moving them into the my_music folder on the sd card, i think this folder is what the stock music player uses but, I still have some .wma files and .mp3 files that will not show up in the stock music player...get my drift? It's confusing me. I wish I could just create on music folder put alll my music into and they would all show in the stock player. I recently downloaded an app called media converter, i will give that a go, because i have some .mp3 files that can only be played by opening them in ES file explorer and choosing open with music or es music player...:mad:

That sounds odd. Very odd indeed.

One would think it would be pretty straight forward.

I only have a few mp3 files on my card, and they all show up fine. Otherwise I stream all my music through Google Music, Pandora, or Tune In.

How has that app worked out?
