SD Card not recognised?

It seems my SD card isn't working, I have a little icon at the top of the screen that say my SD card isn't recognised, the phone thinks I don't have one in it. Any ideas as to whats wrong? When you turn the phone on it says "Removed SD Card" I only got the phone today, played with it 10 mins this morning and it was fine, Put it on this evening and get this error

Right I done that and removed the SD card and reinserted and no good, I have now reset the phone and same issue, don't tell me its died after all of 10 mins use?

Take the sd card out of the phone check to see it looks ok, then re fit it back in the phone & swicth back on.
If you have a card reader check the card in that before trying the next thing.
If that doesn't work with the card back in the phone go to settings/sd & phone storage/unmount sd card then format sd card.
If there is still no joy then it looks like your sd card has died.

Right took the card out and looks fine
Dont have an Micro SD Adaptor for the card reader
If I go to settings Unmount SD card is greyed out as is format

Your going to need to get hold of a reader somewhere and pop it into a PC to see if the computer recognises it. If your PC doesn't then your up a certain body of water without a certain piece of equipment.

Well if it worked prior to now I'd say its died. If this is a new card when and where did you get it?

No I got the phone this morning, it came in the phone, played with the phone for about 10 mins had no issues, came back to it tonight and turned it on and got Removed SD card

Looks like its died m8, take it back to the shop & i am sure they will sort you a replacement card out.

Get in touch with where you bought it from and request a new/replacement card then. Can I ask where you bought the phone from?

Mines just done the same. Have had the phone for two months now. Why do they just fail, it wasn't as if i messed around with it?
Gutted as have lost some good photos i took over the weekend.

Ah your luck is as good as mine
I finally got mine working again, formtted it, gave it a wipe with a microfibre cloth and blew in the sd card area, slotted it in and hey presto - weird but its working so im happy.

Glad you got compensation for yours not working.

Have you tried it in a card reader on your laptop/PC/...Mac?

I take it you formatted in a pc card reader? Were you able to salvage any data? I guess I need to try and find someone with a reader.

If you format the card your not going to recover anything. The reason I suggest using a card reader is to rule out a faulty connection with the phone.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Have tried it in someone else's phone but it cant read it either. Am still trying to find someone with micro sd card reader.
Will tye pc be always able to reformat it or is that dependent on how screwed it is? The lost data is not too much of a concern.
