Root sd card read only durring new 2.2 root process

While trying to root my phone the command prompt kept reading that my sd card was real only, however i just reformatted. Whats the issue??

Check to see if your sdcard is currently mounted as a disk drive. If it is, set the usb connection to "charge only."

i ran into that same problem but it was because i was using \ instead of / once i switched that i was able to go through the whole process.
