Root SD card transfer rate

bigt

Android Enthusiast
I recently changed ROMS from Cyanogen to Oxygen (gingerbread) to take advantage of apps2sd+. After creating an ext2 partition on my SD card my transfer rate to the card has gone from 3MB/s to 500KB/s. Is this usual? The 'internal' transfer rate is unchanged, I can still play music/capture video fine. It is just slow copying files from computer to phone.

how did you partition? its likely the partitions are not aligned which will cause degradation of transfer speeds

I ran SD test yesterday when slow speeds started, from memory read was 10ish MB/s and write was 4ish MB/s. I partitioned using ROM manager

Will it harm my SD card to carry on running with misaligned partitions?

I paid for the SD card tester app, used it then got a refund

it wont cause any harm no, it will just be slow as its not optimised
tbh most people have it like this as most people use rom manager to format.
even i did, its a pain in the arse

Be interesting to see if its all transacttions.

The last 2 were EA games. Clearly a US company, but everything in the market is either dollars or Euro's, so it wouldnt surprise me.

I used GParted the other day to make my EX3 partion and I just ran the SD card peed test(I have the free version from before) and it says:

Write speed is 6.0MB/s
Reading speed is 10MB/s

8GB class 6 card.
