Help SD card wipe caused by battery?

Hi, I purchased a 16GB SD Card and a bigger battery off eBay a couple months ago. The other day when my Hero wouldnt boot HTC Sense properly, I formatted the cache and when I rebooted the phone everything on the card was deleted and now it says theres only 30mb on it and I cannot get it to format. I was reading that this is caused by large electrostatic shock being sent to the sdcard and I am wondering if that couldve been caused by the battery? Thanks!

It's certainly possible but I've never heard of it caused by a phone battery. It's more likely that the card itself was failing, which caused the problems booting. Did it report the correct 16GB capacity prior to this? I hate to say it but eBay is rife with fake memory cards.

Yes, I've had it for a couple months now and its always been 16gb until it died a couple days ago. I guess next time ill get it from a store so I get a warranty with it.
