Root SD Partitioning ?

I know there are threads that exist surrounding my topic, but I guess I need a little more information. I just backed up my SD card to my computer so all is well there. I saw this thread over on XDA, but I know there was another one that was more informative and I cannot find it.

Basically, I would like to partition my card to help increase internal storage and increase battery life and phone performance. I've never done this so I'm a bit freaked out. Is there anything special I need to do prior to going through with this? Does this affect apps2sd (which I'm not sure I even have)? I'm on Mik's 2.1 ROM right now and I'm about to go to 2.2. I'm going to wait to install it though until I get some good feedback. :)

Thanks in advance!

hi guys, already have the Evo rooted and I've been reading about sd parttioning, should I do it on the stock card? any benfits or none? At the moment I'm using Synergy Rom, before that I was using deck rom....I switch from time to time between sense and AOSP, any suggestions?

Thanks in advanced

i've partitioned my stock card and have had no issues... i have been using a2sd-froyo and all my apps stay intact between rom flashes... alot of people say upgrade your card to a different class but so far so good for me...

EDIT - must also add that i am only a sense guy... not sure how apps would react going from sense to aosp and vice versa...

not really performance, but i can definitely get more apps now then before. however, the higher the class of your card the better things will run. class 4 or higher is recommended but i think class 6 or higher is better. the only time you may get performance issues if you were low on memory. so in that case then yes. but before i never really had a lot of apps. now it is different though. it is easy enough to do. just follow intsructions and you are good to go.

the stock card is ok but the higher the card is the better and smoother things will run. if you do partition it, you can get more apps on your phone. some of these new roms are huge and that space will definitely help inperformance and restoring of your apps.

Are you using Apps2sd that comes with the froyo roms or are you using Darktremor A2SD? If you are using the former, then the class 2 card is ok for that. If you are using the latter, then you would likely notice a difference switching to a Class4 or better card. I tried DT with my class 2 and it seemed that my phone lagged when I opened an app. I have a class 10 now and there is no lag at all.
