They are all having the same problem.

I downloaded the voice.apk file someone on this forum uploaded so kindly. But when you try to use it..it just tries to detect voices but even when I speak nothing happens..

I have this on my Hero and was showing it to a friend of mine who also has a Hero. He was impressed and tried to find it on the marketplace but it seems to have been removed. Don't know why as it excellent and a life saver!

I got very drunk in a strange city and had no idea where my hotel was. I was too drunk to type. I just spoke the name of the hotel and it searched google for it, which then provided a link to google maps. Used the compass thingy to guide me back!

I'd love to get voice search back, it was one of the coolest things on the phone.

Like jUsT2eXy I downloaded the .apk file off the net but I could never get it to work properly, kept giving me American sites. York became New York ect..

OK got a copy that runs by googling com.qualcomm.qx.dillo.apk, if anyone wants it, it was from here. Can not vouch for the site as I only used it for this.

I just went to link via hero browser and just downloaded it and installed failing that download on pc and transfer to sd card

I doubt it, otherwise Eclosion would have been asked to remove the d/l from their site (and I'd be removing the link from here!). It's obviously still distributable.... maybe a regional limitation? I believe it's included with some Heros.

Found this download which works perfectly on an unrooted HTC Hero 1.5 on 3 Ireland.
