Help Security App

I've been looking at the security apps for the Hero (especially the free ones) and it is difficult to determine if there is one that stands above the others. The user reviews all seem the same in that most people like it but there are a small number of people who had a bad experience with it. Some of those do present good arguments, not just ranting.

So I'd like to get some more opinion to see what you all have to say as to the security apps available in the Market. First off, is it even really necessary at this point in time to get a security program that does anti-virus work, help to locate the phone, remotely wipe it, etc?

If so, then what do you think is the best app and have you actually tried more than one?

I've had Lookout for a year, best security app imo;) Never tried anything else so...

I use AVG and love it but I believe it is for rooted phones, not sure so check out the market and see

I don't keep am Anti-Virus on my phone, but I do keep Mobile Defender. It has a super small footprint and doesn't wear on the battery. What it does is allows you to lock and wipe your phone remotely, as well as use gps and cell towers to track and locate your phone if it were to turn up missing. You can also power down your phone remotely and send alert texts to it as well. I find no need for Anti-Virus if your apps are from trusted sources through the Android Market. However, I do find the need to safe guard my phone in the event of loss or theft.
