Root Seeking Update Info

Hi everyone,

I hope this is in the right place. I am looking for a way to update my evo v with the latest ota update. I have updated it via the ota when I was able to about 2-3 weeks ago. My problem is I have since then done the whole root/S-off stuff but didnt find a rom I liked so I decided to return to stock via the RUU. I was able to get bootloader completely stock LOCKED and S-ON (not RELOCKED) and Im back on the stock out of the box rom and everything. Since I have returned to stock my phone is no longer updated to the new radio and says 1.13.652.2 71ORD which is not the updated version. I have not yet gotten the OTA update since returning to stock and I get the text bug again. I don't really want to do the custom rom thing again. One question I have is, is there an updated RUU or can a RUU be updated with the OTA fix? I also want to know where do you get the RUUs. I normally go to the Directory listing of http://www.htcruu.com/ site but I don't think thats an official HTC site. Is there a way to download the RUU straight from HTC themselves?

I would say give it a little more time. I'm assuming you checked manually for the software update? If not try that.

Not sure why you got rid of s-off. You could have just stayed rooted and ran the stock rom... Or even ran the RUU and just left s-off. The update was just firmware which I have a download for. With s-off you could have just flashed the firmware bits and had the new radio.

Just because you are rooted doesn't mean you have to run a custom rom. You can be completely stock except for the fact that your phone has root access.

I have not seen an RUU yet for the new update. I pulled the firmware out of the OTA that someone posted and made it into a PG86IMG file.

If you want to root your stock rom, you can just flash superuser. I would personally just do it again. Unlock, flash recovery, flash super user, get s-off, flash updated firmware. Then you can be completely stock, updated and still have the ability to use root only apps.

I have to agree with you. I don't know why I went completely stock. I just couldn't find a rom I liked. I have been rooted/stock and I did flash the radio PG file but I noticed it didnt change the information in the rom. Still showed as 1.13 and didn't know if that would effect anything. Maybe someone can give me a couple suggestions on a custom rom. I do like being rooted. I find it more secure actually. I wish I know how to compile my own rom. I do have a laptop running ubuntu 13 atm but I've read you need a beefy machine to do so. Plus I have very little java and c+++ experience. I would like a rom with sense, the dual core fix, 3D camera (pics & vids) and battery life also. I guess Im to picky

I use mobster v2.76 for this. Not sure if it had been upgrade since I last downloaded though

I really doubt that there will ever be a RUU with the update included, since this was an ota and the RUU has to be digitally signed for it to work there's no way to modify any existing ones to include it.
