Accessories Seidio 1600mAh extended life battery

Hmm, I'd be worried about that one. For starters, it's obvious that it's got a typo on the box (24,000?? Not likely...). Plus one of the reviews there states it won't charge the Iphone3GS. Now, without knowing if that's because of connector or charge, I'd be worried about putting the money in. Some people have managed to charge from their Pebbles 3 full times, and even with a little bit left over. It seems that it vaires from build to build...

Dont even bother.

I have those too. 2800mah capacity.

Charges my phone from 15-60% in 5 hours, then it dies.

and Yes, 10-60% in 5 hours.

Useless carp.


Yesterday I received my Energizer XP8000 and so far it worked wonderfully. Charges my phone from 15% in 2 hours and 15 mins, very close to the original 1A Wall adapter. After 2 full charges it still reports 3 our of 4 leds. I expect at least 4 charges from it.

This is the fastest portable charger I've used and no doubt the 950ma output is accurate.

Will post a short review as soon as I'm done with the testing.
 
Just a reminder, that you should be aware that people have different use of their Android device.

Instead of telling how long you use the battery, the awake time would be more accurate.

Go to setting -> about phone -> battery and you will see up time, and awake time. Up time stands for the last recharge time, and awake time stands for how long you actually use it.

I got it on a daily deal on woot.com for $55 shipped. Normal price is about $80. Look for Energizer XP8000.

Update on the energizer charger:
1st charge: 15-100% 4/4 leds
2nd charge: 15-60% 3/4 leds 60-100% 3/4 leds
3rd charge: 15-100% 3/4 leds

So far I am truly impressed. 3 full charges from 15% and still displays 3 out of 4 leds. I initially expected 4 charges, but now I have to say 5. I just threw my pebble away :D.

Just finished my first charging cycle with the Energizer XP8000.

4 Full charges from 15%, then an aditional 18% charge before it shut down. Not bad, But I hope to see better result whitin the next few cycles.
 
Hmm, seems odd that it lost so many LEDs so quickly. Still 4.2 charges is the best so far. It seems it's pretty much double price for double charges. Or there abouts.

Hi all,

Being new to the HTC desire, I have been trying to find a way of extending the battery life and there is certainly much information on this forum.

For my old nokia n96 I bought for just a couple of quid, a simple battery case with nokia lead, which held 3 normal alkaline batteries and this has proven very useful on many occasions.

I wondered if I attached a micro usb adaptor to the nokia lead, if this will succeed in extending the battey life of the desire but I would not want to try it without advice. Any comments will be welcomed

I was talking to the HTC and Telus support and they are both aware that there is problem with the power consumption of the Desire.

HTC support informed me their engineers are working to find a fix but at present have no ideas as to why the battery life is so poor. I managing 6 hours with everything shut off, just using the cell phone. Poor customer service really when they know of the problem and are still selling the units i have had mine four days.

No claim that this is the best option. Just looking around for one at the moment. I like to be able to pop AA batteries in. Prefer it to be a 4 battery pack. The perfect charger would allow me to charge the re-chargeable batteries from 120-240v wall outlet and then let me charge the phone from a USB port when needed.

Anyone have experience with this or other options that work well?

Would be nice for long flights or times when I know I can't get to a charger (and have a bag with me).
 
tried the battery recharge 'trick' with the extended life battery I bought last month. sadly after trying method twice, no discernable improvement.
 
I realized that after some heavy usage, the Desire will take up to five times the power while in standby. The phone will get warm even under sleep, with all connections off (except gsm) and apps shut down. Under this "state" the battery can drain as fast as 8% per hour, even without being used.

When this happens, just restart the phone and it will turn normal again, 1-1.5% per hour discharge at standby. I observed this strange behavior with juice plotter.

6 hours? That's really bad. I can generally get a day with mine, so 12-16ish hours. The guy at Telus store said they will most likely get replacement batteries in. I was considering usnig 2 batteries untill I realized how scary pulling out the battery is on these phones. It seems almost all my battery is chewed up by system and cell standby. I was looking at juice plotter this morning and my phone was at 100% from around midnight until 4am (charged from 9:30ish) and then it dropped down ~5% in an hour. Charged back to 100% untill I got up 5:45.

I just decided to underclock the phone to 550mHz, I will see if that helps the issue.

I really want one of those energizer packs, but they are super expensive. I guess they are usefull for any device, not just my phone though. Could be cool to be the guy who always has juice.:D

I ordered it straightaway but it has only just been released so only received it today, i will test it and let you know what its like.

The only trouble is that it nolonger fits my flip case, is it possible to buy case for the Desire with an extended battery?

Leepy, how did you get on with this battery? Any good?
 
I have to say that the new battery is lasting alot longer than the original, i used to have to put it on charge when i got home from work but now its only on about 70% and i dont have to charge it at all throughout the day. The only downside is that it does make the phone quite bulky and it doesnt fit my GPS cradle or flip case anymore.
 
Hi

I'm new here and not into all the 'geek speak' stuff. Just wanted to know which the best extended life battery is as I only use GPS for about 10 - 20mins browsing at my teabreak on Twitter, Facebook and checking my AOL mail and find that when I then switch GPS off, I have about half a battery left !! ;-/

My Nokia N97 didn't have this problem and I could use it for 2 days before I needed to charge it up again, but I only upgraded to HTC Desire recently and have to charge it every night
