Accessories Seidio 1750 Follow Up

Guys, I have been using this battery for over a week now.
I need some input. When the 14% warning came on, I had the following.
Up time: 6h
Awake Time: 3h 30mins

About 2 hours of streaming online radio, 10mins of surfing, every 30min for Exchange update, no wifi, no GPS.

I do think it's pretty short on juice?

just got mine. Phone feels a little heavier , which I like. Battery is so much better than the stock. This is the one they should of put in the phone from day one.

that's wayyy too short. though the uptime can sometimes be wrong if your phone randomly reboots. my does once in a while, and i'll go into the battery area and it'll say its been up only a few hours, which obviously is wrong. but it simply rebooted.

but of course you would know yourself how long the phones been on in the first place. just a thought.

I have been with the phone, and I know for a fact that it didn't randomly reboot.

I really think my Seidio is defective =(

It must be. I am only on my 3rd day and today I've got so far Battery today 13:11 uptime 9:47 awake and still 20% left. The majority of the awake time was playing cached Slacker. About 40 minutes of web and newgrounds.com, 30 or so email and a small handful of text messages and phone calls. BUT I dont have exchange, not sure what that does to your battery.

I am very happy with the results.

Wow, I can see the difference now! I'm 100% sure it's defective now. Thanks for your input.

Holy crap, almost 10 hrs awake time??? My battery was under 9% today after only 2:30 AWAKE time. Most of that was browsing on 3G, but still. Maybe my Seidio is also defective or maybe it's my phone.

Yeah but you gotta remember that most of the uptime was cached Slacker so the screen wasn't on and it wasnt streaming.

I made the mistake of trying to Stream LastFM on the 2nd day. It completely sucked my battery from 70% to 30% in just under an hour an a half. I had to uninstall it so I'm not tempted to use it again.

Do you think it's possible to get 5 hrs of 3G browsing on a single charge? If I can get to 5 hrs I would be more than happy!

Do you have any problems with Slacker running in the background and sucking battery life? I've had problems with that and had to go in through System Panel and shut it down.

I could never get rid of Last.FM. It's my favorite of the music apps and easily the one I use most. I've scrobbled so much music that "My Library" station is an eclectic mix of awesomeness.

5 Hours? WOW! I'll never find out myself, I don't have the patience for that much mobile browsing :p

LMAO

I have never had any problems with Slacker sucking power. I listened to it all day today at work and it only shows 2% battery usuage. I did however have the same awake/up times bug/battery drain when I first set the phone up and after a bit of reading I ended up killing the Calendar and rebooting. Been fine ever since.

Hmmmm. Maybe I need to uninstall and reinstall. I don't use it a lot but it's nice to have a variety of different options.

To be honest with you I like LastFM a hell of a lot more than I like Slacker but the caching won me over. Slackers audio quality is really poor for me but it is noticeably better caching than it is when streaming.

Insert the word Seidio here so as to not high jack the thread with my posts. (sorry)

It's a bit annoying, but your battery life will improve quite a lot if you keep your GPS off anytime you're not actively using it. I haven't noticed a big drain leaving my wifi on, but the GPS is a big hit.

Active applications can also run it down. I don't know who decided that android applications shouldn't have a quit button but I'd like to have some private words with them, preferably in a dark alley.

The real solution would be the not-yet-available 2150?ma battery from HTC, but it keeps getting delayed.

Yes :D ...I wasn't kidding when I said "heavy user" ;)

The GPS is used when I don't know how to get to a new clients address so I pop it in Google Maps and I get turn by turn directions :)

You might be able to, but wow that's a lot if you really think about it.

What are you using 5 hours of internet on

LMAO! A have a lot of down time at work so I'm browsing all the time. Mostly forums or researching stuff. I have no idea, but at the end of the day it all adds up.

The GPS is not used unless a program calls for it. It is available on demand, but it is not running all of the time draining the battery. I leave GPS on all of the time and unless I use a program that calls for it (Maps/My Tracks/GPS Logger/etc) the GPS is NOT used. I have shut it off to test this and if I am not using any GPS-aware program, the battery drain does not change over time.

Wi-Fi on the other hand does use a bit of the battery if it is being used at an active AP. This can be proven by seeing what is using the battery (Settings/About Phone/Battery). Wi-Fi is a big contributor, as long as it is being used (that makes sense). The same goes for GPS. If it is not being actively used, it is on stand-by and used on demand and doesn't contribute to battery depletion (that makes sense too).

Got my Seido in and either my stock battery is junk, or this one is not being read correctly, since I appear to be getting almost twice the battery life. I need to run this puppy down to nothing to confirm. At a minimum, the 34% improvment is accurate. Call me suprised in a good way. I am glad, since I like my VZW black silicon case and the phone size is "just right" with case on. Extended battery with bigger cover and in a silicon case would make it a bit too big.

aw1974, that is a LOT of jiggly-site surfing UR doing there ;)

BTW, EVO with a silcon case is near- comical large.
