Help Separate Ringtone and Notification Volume?

KryptoNyte

It appears that the version of ICS on this device is incapable of separating the Ringtone and Notification Volume? This can't be right ... I'm being woken up in the middle of the night for an email or text message.

Please advise any settings and/or workarounds. Thanks.

Sucks. Devs figured out how to make it work on my device (galaxy nexus) but it took awhile since we were the first to run the new OS and Google didn't provide the option. You are correct that out of the box, ICS (4.0.2 and 4.0.3 for sure) lacks this ability which is unforgivable IMO. What's worse, aftermarket apps didn't seem to make it work either for us anyway.

I'm not sure what version you guys are on...was hoping this might be fixed in 4.0.4 (we just updated to it) but I'm not sure because I always run custom roms so I haven't checked out true stock 4.0.4 yet.

Sorry about all the non-EVO references. Just stumbled across your thread on a fluke and wanted to shortcut you to the answer since we've been down this road already. I was literally fist pumping at my PC when I saw the first rom that had the ability to separate ringtone/notifications. Not sure how they pulled it off but obviously it CAN be done.

This is an ICS thing unfortunately, they can't be split. Luckily, I don't get many texts at night so my workaround is to set a tasker profile to turn off autosync between the hours of 23:30 & 07:30. That way, I'm not notified of emails, but the ringer is still on if an important call comes through.

If you get a lot of SMS at night, I'd suggest turning off notifications via the messaging app. Alternatively, one of the 3rd Party apps (handcent or GoSMS) might have the ability to turn off notifications between certain times.
