Help Serious Calendar Issues

So, I got my Desire and thought everything would be fine. I'm not exactly new to smartphones but this problem seems to be beyond me.

Problem: can't store calendar event

Not even one.

It seems that it tries to load a calendar, it can't find anything. I also can't even create a calendar. Syncing? Yeah right!! I'm managed to sync my contacts and that was all.

Just to simplify things a bit, in my search for a solution, I noticed that I don't have an app called Calendar Storage. Does it seem right that this app is missing? Every one else seems to talk about it, but I don't even have it for some reason.

Any ideas about what I can do?

Welcome to Android Forums!

Open the Calendar app, go to Menu/Settings/Calendars and check that you have a Google Calendar selected. If you haven't previously created one you'll have to do so via the Google web site.

About Calendar Storage... it's not a user app so ordinarily you can't see it. It'll be there though, but running as a background service.

Hmmm,

Open the Calendar app, go to Menu/Settings/Calendars

calendar app, menu, more, calendars

Oh, there isn't anything to select.. I don't even have a pc sync standard calendar

I got nothin' but problems.

I've tried almost every idea I could fine in forums about adding an account but I still can't get it to add my google account.

HTC sense doesn't seem to be syncing.

I have nowhere to back up my files so I'm afraid to do a factory reset.

I got the HTC sync software to sync my contacts once and that was it. Since then, about a week ago, I've made numerous contacts changes and would really loe to back it up again.

Anyway, I think I could deal with all of these issues if I could just add a goole account or just get my built in calendar to work.

I'm on my knees everyone. Please help a guy out.

I synced my contacts using a method other than Google.

I can't recall how I did it, need to do it again, and would much rather just fix my calendar feature first, sync up with google, then sync the contacts.
