Seriously...

LMAO... you do it to yourself brother....

You're even recommending roms lol....

Haha. I know, I know....even though I've lost my chance for root for now (this will not always be the case, I hope) I'd still like to remain a resonably helpful part of our kick ass community here. *sigh*

dont be jealous bishop your still that dude to me just cableguy quicker lol but its love everywhere

ok now, im pretty sure im going to root this phone i really hope it works and hope everything is well tty soon

Oh, that's no sweat. I would defer to cable anytime. I'm just jealous for not being able to root.

C'mon bishop. You can't think of one reason to return your phone? Not one?

Sure, I can think of many reasons! I consider it almost daily. My phone operates pretty well, I'm a little worried the phone I received would be on 2.1-hboot1.49 anyway. "Leaker's Remorse" I read recently in a post. Just hope the Root Crowd leaves the lights on for me.

I would ask to power the phone on before they replace it. Unless of course they have to mail it, in which case you might end up being worse off than you are now! An unrootable phone WITH all the problems people on here have. Looking at it that way, I can see why you would do what you're doing.

Yeah, I read the Rooting threads, all the chatter about ROMs and the fun people are having. And I just think to myself, "Shit".

I just got a replacement today from verizon for the silent bug, came with version 1.5, HBOOOT 1.47. I tried to root, but couldn't get the recovery to install, so i ended up reverting to 1.5, and it left me with hboot 1.49 :/

Although my endeavor to root failed, i am excited to have 1.5 back, and my phone is running like a speed demon with it!

Sometimes, when I'm in the All Things Root threads, I can't help myself and just yell out "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"....:p

My wife thinks I'm crazy

Oh, was that really necessary? That's just cruel. Haha...actually, I'm sitting debating (my Wife thinks I'm crazy for talking to/answering myself) whether or not I'm going to call Verizon tonight or go into one of the stores tomorrow. I do have the more-than-occasional silent bug that I've tolerated and just power cycled.

I personally don't think even the occasional silent bug is acceptable.

Am I the only one not getting subscription emails from this site?

I haven't received one all afternoon. Thought maybe the forums were down... but i see everyone is active:confused:

Agreed. After mulling it over with you and Cable, I think I will roll the dice; especially after Cable pointed out earlier today that I was recommending ROMs to some forum members. In my defense, I did mention that I had read it was a very popular ROM. :o

(Living vicariously through others)

I waited some time, worried as well. Resisted - barely - the 2.1 leaks and all, finally decided to try it after a week or so with the OTA 2.1 update.

It worked first time, whew. Why do I care? Because I can now overclock the phone (not too much, still conservative) and because I can now have a wifi access point - which I've not actually used yet.

I have the plainjane rom - it's practically stock. I need the phone to work; it's nice that it's a tad bit more responsive as well.

:( this makes me miss my eris even more now. I hope the Droid x people are as cool as you guys!

Doubt it ...
but with a cool phone like that... you can be cool all by yourself

Thanks man, I'll let you know how it all plays out. You may soon have another disciple.

Awesome Bishop.
I will have my fingers crossed that you dont get screwed with the replacement's hboot file.

Maybe you can ask the Verizon emplyee helping you to bring them all out and power them up...
He can lay them all out like a buffet :D

I may be wrong about this, but I believe HBOOT 1.49.200 s-off is the bootloader you end up with after rooting. I suspect you are already well on your way to root and don't even know it!
