Set my buddy's X up

I never really saw the stock "launcher" because the first app I installed was Launcher Pro the second I powered it up.
Damn, that stock launcher is horrible!
Got him set up with LP and he can now use his phone. He had all sorts of problems finding things. Didn't know you could scroll down the info screen at the top ;). Couldn't get to his txt messages(yeah, i know).
Got him set up with Quick settings and Weather Bug too. He now has one screen with about 10 apps on it and nothing else. Looks like old Mother Hubbard's kitchen :)
Now he can actually use his phone.
Amazing how some find it hard to do this stuff. I didn't even think of mentioning rooting and all that ;).
 
I think if you're a tinkerer by nature, then finding your way around this phone is like second nature. If you aren't, then you may need a buddy like you to show you the ropes.

When coming from a Blackberry my ex was actually the one who talked me into trying out a D1 since she was going to get one and they had a BOGO deal going on them. I was sort of hesitant because I was perfectly happy with my BB. Well we picked them up on a Friday afternoon, and by Sunday she said she wanted to take hers back on Monday because the phone was too complicated to use.

I on the other hand had already downloaded like 50 apps and was having a ball with mine. There was no way I was going back to my Curve. So we took both of them back and I put in for the DX which had just been released a day or two before.

Now I will admit that coming on here has taught me a TON of things that I probably never would have figured out on my own. You should encourage him to join up and frequent this site as it really does provide valuable info. But even before joining I had found Launcher Pro on my own (converted over to Go Launcher a month ago and will never look back... this launcher is tits!!!) and generally knew my way around the phone within those first 3 days of having it.

I guess you just have it or you don't.

Oh, I think this site would blow his mind. He couldn't understand 1/10 of what is said here. He's a smart guy but not gifted in this area. Trust me :)
