[SGS3-R530M] OUDHS Recovery 1.0.3.3 & Root

did u download drivers? also make sure your only flashing clockwork mod with odin the root isnt used till later once clock work mod is installed. once clockwork mod is installed it should reboot so from there place root zip to your sd card then reboot into recovery pwr button+volume button down+ home button then in clockwork mod select zip to be installed and choose the root zip then flash it then reboot.

Yep downloaded and installed drivers, put in download mode and flashed clockwork mod. It says that it failed but when I can I will go to my dad's to download everything on the pc and try again. I know it will be awhile though so I will try again at home tonight when I get home from work. Thanks for trying to help me.

It says added then it ends up saying complete (write) operation failed, all threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1). It says FAIL! In a red box in the top I don't know what's up

Yuuuup, you're rooted! :D

if you were going to flash a rom then you didnt need to root. you can download cm10.1 from rom manager idk what else may be listed there, i know my roms arent.

I know that I was just wondering which rom out there that is jelly bean is a great rom right now sorry I stated that question the wrong way

I would like to give shabby a great big thank you. This helped me out so much.

Question. I prefer TWRP over CWM based recoveries because I didnt like the new way that CWM recoveries work. If I remember right it was changed from creating full backups each time to only scanning whats new, and then creating a bunch of blob files. Does this also do this? Or is it like the old CWM that created only separate folders for system, data, recovery, cache, boot, etc? Thanks

you can set it to do whatever format you want :)

the dedupe format is the one with blobs etc makes nandroid and storage much smaller over a long time

Ok, I'll give it a try. Thanks. Ok. I flashed it and it is backing up now. Couple questions

1) How do you switch to the older format and not the dedupe? Is it the option to backup as .tar?

2) After the first reboot, if you select to not block the stock recovery overwrite, will it save that preference? Or do you have to tell it not to at each reboot? Thank you Shabby

1) should be in the nandroid menu iirc

2) it will ask you so long as it keeps finding taht file there (as that file writes stock recovery over custom on every boot). if you just say yes and remove it then it wont ask again :)

Does it only overwrite with CWM based recoveries? Because my TWRP never gets overwrote. Also what does it mean when it says this is irreversible? Does it mean once it deletes that file and blocks the overwrite that you cant get stock recovery back?

no you can always gets tock back. it just renames it to a different file so the script fails. and no it affects all recoveries, not sure why its saying you have the file but it hasnt effected you since stock kernel has the stuff to overwrite the custom recovery

I have a question i dont like clock work i mean its nice :) and im sure this has been asked but how do i switch to twrp

If you have root, download goomanager from the play store and click on open recovery script when you are inside the app. Just press the settings button when you open goo manager

Go to Play store and download GooManager. Open it and hit the settings button the bottom left of your phone (not the 'settings' inside the app) and hit "Install OpenRecoveryScript".
That will install TWRP for you.

LOL! We gave the same answer at the same time.

Sorry for the redundancy GunnerProdigy.
