Shipping date speculation

I suspect Google is going to have some words for Ebuyer, who may not be allowed to sell Google products again...

:/. I HATE THIS. I can say I'm no longer excited

Me too Cammy. I might get excited again when its finally delivered but my enthusiasm has definitely dimmed the last few days.

I think I'm just wore out from the waiting and anticipation. :D

Pretty lame that we, who were most excited about the N7, don't look like we'll even get verification of our shipping until next week. That will be at least Release day +3 by then if some folks start getting theirs at B&M stores today. Our enthusiasm is rewarded by lack of communication and empty promises!

Bummer - maybe I should have saved the $25 shipping on the N7 and case........

Will there be queues outside B&M shops like we see with product releases from other companies? I guess not since there are not Google B&M stores?

I'm starting to be in the same boat. I think a lot of people's anticipation has dimmed which is what every Android OEM is aiming for before they release their device. There's no point in releasing the device when demand is at a fevered pitch. That's foolish. Do that and you'll guarantee that you'll sell a bunch of devices and no one wants that.

Yeah, I don't care so much any more. Other people are getting there's. The B&M stores are selling them. My pre-order won't come until days after everyone else who wasn't an early adopter gets in and buys them and has them for several hours. Google has clearly told me I don't matter to them so I don't care about them either at this point. Plus, I had a disturbing dream last night that occupies my mind at present so Google can go screw themselves. I'm tempted to cancel the order TBH.

In my opinion, it's not yet an official "release day" if only very few retailers are sending them out when Google is instructing them against it. It's the equivalent of slipping a gamestop employee $20 to sell you one against their policy. You may get yours, but I don't count that as officially released.

On the other side of things, this is actually starting to make me wonder what is causing the delay... Shipping coordination problems wouldn't likely take this long, they may be having significant hold-ups in the processing of all the orders. (Unless it's litigation-related, sigh)

My anxiousness about getting it has dimmed down; I'm feeling more of a sense of anger or disappointment now. I really wouldn't be mad about it...except that people who ordered from retailers are already getting theirs when those who ordered from Google are not. If they weren't, I wouldn't be ticked off; Monday is still mid-July, like they said. However, I really can't find an excuse for retailers to be getting and distributing them before Google does. That, in my mind, isn't acceptable. Long story short, people from eBuyer are getting theirs today, and if I don't get mine today, I'll be one unhappy camper. Not because I don't have it, but because, people who didn't order through Google do. Just my feelings on it...

Hey folks, don't get down. Good things come to those who wait. It will come soon enough. While I am frustrated mainly at the silence from Google, they haven't misspoken on what they did say, available mid-July. I am still very excited to get this as my first tablet.

It's not ebuyer's fault if Google can't organize a proper launch.

Huh?

I'm not sure if you've ever dealt with supply chains before, but it's extremely common to ship product to a retailer and demand that they hold onto it until a certain date.

This has nothing to do with the fact that Google's launches aren't slick like Apple's.

The fact is that they received product, and shipped it to customers against the supplier's instructions.

I have it ordered from four sources:

Playstore: no delivery date ( 1 to 2 weeks)
Staples: July 18 delivery
Office Depot :July 16 delivery
Adorama: Called this AM and they said they cannot even take another order until July 16. Yet I was still successful in placing an online order w/2nd delivery. No delivery date on the confirmation.

No change this morning to any of these four orders. They still say pre-order (except Adorama) and not " shipped".

Let's take a moment to imagine the following hypothetical scenario:

Apple is planning to release a new 7" iPad... They are shipping the stock out to retailers early, so they have time to check all the SKU's, marketing materials, and unpack/setup for release. Then, Apple asks them to hold their stock for an extra week (for whatever reasons). The following week, Apple ships pre-orders out and retailers put the product out for sale as instructed.

This scenario sounds like a routine, smooth launch as long as the retailers don't spread word that they have it in stock. Which is also why Apple picks and chooses the retailers very carefully (who knows, they may also have them sign additional legal papers / NDAs). If any retailer were to sell the iPad within that 'delay week,' you can sure as hell bet that Apple will sue the pants off of them, and never sell a device through them again.

So the whole reason people are disappointed and/or angry is that there was too much communication and retailers that don't fear the consequences. Ignorance is bliss - I still expect mine on July 17th, the usual mid-month Tuesday shipment date.
also, I understand the disappointment about a physical date (yeah, some random date from google would have worked), but most people seem to be complaining only after hearing the retailers info though.

I've stopped searching for updates, stopped reading threads about it now. I'm just stuck looking at this photo whilst on hold to Google. I don't imagine Ill get anywhere with the poor over worked CS people but I want to feel like something is happening.

Edit:- It's a real purdy box though. The bezel makes a 7!

I'm not sure it's fair to get pissed because one B&M store sold some without authorization. It's not like Google did that on purpose. The store broke an agreement. Good for the lucky few you accidentally got around the system!

Google never set a release date. I haven't seen anything yet where Google ever set any sort of release date. They merely shipped to retailers without any release date attached. It's hardly the retailers fault for receiving goods, putting them on the shelf and selling them. All of this could've been avoided if they had just publicly announced a release date before shipping to the retailers.

Google is probably the biggest and most powerful corporation in the world. If you think they really didn't want them sold, like really didn't, you really think Google couldn't have found a way to stop them? Not saying they did it on purpose, but they didn't stop them when with the amount of power they have, they absolutely have the ability to

Yeah, my personal opinion on the subject is that i am still excited i am getting this tablet. I have many a use for it and will make that puppy work as soon as its out of that box.

It is still mid-july and I thought the company bashing and the thinking it might be this week, going to claim our devices with a pitchfork, and even being let down and having to speculate a bit more is just all part of the fun of this thread.

My understanding is that a pre-order means that on launch you get one guaranteed and MAYBE get it early. Never a definite or they would have claimed it as such.

I do admit I AM annoyed at the lack of communication, but I also understand that the lack of communication and not charging right away covers their butt if something does get fouled up.

Because if something does get fouled I want mah fudgin' money.

If anyone has received their google shipping confirmation can you do the following for me
Go to UPS.com and select tracking and then tracking by reference
put in your google play order number, see if the data pulls up.

If it does it maybe possible to find out your order is shipping before google sends you the e-mail

The guys on the phone at Google are so laid back and reasonable about it all. They're saying that they can totally understand what I'm saying and that we really should get a tracking number very very soon. All the stores which have sold devices early have now stoppped too. Apparently Google didn't know that Asus would be selling them to stores (not sure about that one myself) and I guess that's why there were these emails at the last minute trying to get them to stop. There's basically no chance of getting the device today if we haven't got a tracking number yet but the pending charge has to be taken off in order for Google to actually take the money from your account. TNT have given Google a one day shipping time too so Monday seems possible.

They're ready, they're coming soon. Here's that picture of the box again to get the juices flowing:-

Lets try to have a good weekend and get some sleep without waking up five times in the night to check for tracking number.

Oh and, when I told the guy that it would all be so much easier if Google just Said Something he kinda just sighed and said "I know"...
