Root Sholes 2.0.5 is out!

And Beast is decent, but without a different kernal flash, sholes 2.0.5 is now faster since it supports 1200mhz. Not to mention Beast doesn't have the touchscreen response fix yet, that I have seen anyway. I was using the latest Beast and I can tell a big difference after switching.

I flashed t3hSteve's kernel over Bugless Beauty while waiting for the Devs to add his patches to their ROMs. Great to see that Sholes has already integrated them, the keyboard and autobrightness patches are definitely must-have updates.

I had to do the install twice. On the first try, it got to 62% downloaded and froze. I had to pull the battery and start over. That time worked like a charm. Mine is WAY better on 2.0.5 than any 2.0.3 version. CPU benchmarks are about 15% faster than with 2.0.3 @ 1GhZ (2.0.5 @1GhZ too). 2.0.5 seems faster @800 than 2.0.3 did @1000. 1.2 GhZ seems much faster than the previous high of 1 GhZ. That may be because the 2.1 launcher seems absent from 2.0.5. I did use it with 2.0.3. Since 2.0.3 didn't give me any problems like others reported with the 2.1 launcher, I figured I just lucked out. It was a bit of a pain in the neck having to reconstitute all of the home screens, but I'm sort of glad I did, because every time I do it I manage to get the total arrangement a little more to my liking. The phone is noticeably faster than 2.0.3 with the 2.1 launcher at the same CPU speed. So don't mourn much for that loss. It is really a gain.

I think my first install problem was a drop away from 3G into 1x at just the right/wrong time. I did not wipe data FWIW.

My Droid is completely happy with 2.0.5 and seems quite stable @ 1.2GhZ. I have not as of yet looked at all of my 80 or so apps.

I seem to be running cooler at 1GZ on the new rom then I was running the old one at 800. I also stress tested it with some games and she seems cool as can be.

I bumped it all the way up to 1200 last night after the new flash. SO FAST!!! But I immediately lowered it back to 800 because I got nervous. haha. When I ran 2.0.3/2.0.4RC1 at 1000 it would hover around 110F, which seemed too hot. I'm going to run 1000 today with this new ROM to see the difference.

Personally, I don't think there's any need to run higher than 1000 without the sluggish 2.1 launcher installed.

Sweet, 2.0.5 seems like a winner.

I was hitting the wall at 1.1GHz earlier, but at 1.2 on Sholes, I haven't had a FC or reboot yet (knock on wood)

Steve's kernel fixes are implemented (bravo, as I believe this is the only ROM that has them by default).

I reapplied audio fixes to get my equalizer working again. Now I'm blazing along at 1.2GHz!

Pushing about 10.2 Mflops in linpack, about 2350ms in benchmarkpi.

Equalizer? Am I missing something?

I just installed a day ago, but it appears that I've lost the ability to charge from my computer. Is this normal or did I screw something up?

So what is too hot? I was testing it out at 1.2ghz with wifi on, scrolling though google maps for about 5 minutes, then went into the gallery where I scrolled through pictures for a while. The temp got up to 93. I then got a phone call, talked for a while and when I hung up, I saw it was back down to 80. Any guidlines on temp?

That's about 15 degrees cooler than I had last week at 1000, so I'd say you're fine. I'm personally comfortable if it's no higher than 95F at full load.

That is not normal...

Do you have your charging profile min set too low? I read somewhere around here that if it's too low you might not charge properly.

Hi all,

So I just rooted my phone and installed sholes 2.0.5 .. I noticed now though I no longer get 3G reception. Is there a step I missed somewhere?

Thanks for any help

Visit the Sholes page FROM your Droid:) Download/install SMupdater 8 from the page, and run. From there it's pretty self-explanatory, and there is pleanty of info in the forum here to keep you going.

Where do I put the smupdater after I unzip it???
do not unzip it. download the apk with your droid browser. then install it directly from your downloads page (you need to enable installation from non market sources in your settings). then just follow sholes' steps

I was having 3G problems with 2.0.3, but those are gone now with 2.0.5

I didn't want to root, but I got tired of waiting for Motorola to release 2.1 for the Droid
