Apparently one of the victims is uninsured and faces a $2 million bill? Will his care be cut short or what?

Being British I forget you guys have to pay for medical treatment...(I know there are some free clinics)
As much as or Nhs isn't the best care system out there, I'm quite happy we have it, I couldn't imagine even having to think about money etc in a situation like that.
We have the Nhs, it is paid for out of our taxes, so paid for by anyone who works here. Like I said, it ain't perfect, but id rather we allow any and every one in our country (resident or not) to be given treatment required, regardless of the cost.
There are many debates to be had on the subject, I'm sure Obama was wanting to implement it as well? However, it is for a different forum/thread!
Hope the guy doesn't have any cost when he comes out, and I hope everyone involved is able to move on and forget about this tragic event!

Actually, you do pay for it. You might not get a monthly bill, but one way or another, you are still paying for your care. Just like in this country, free health care will cost us all something. Mostly the top few percentile that pay taxes to cover the bottom 50% or so that pay no federal taxes.
Yes the top percentile that pay no taxes and steal from the rest that do pay taxes.
The problem here is the follow up treatments. I know of someone who had cancer but didn't have insurance or able to pay. They did have emergency surgery for the cancer by going to the ER, but after, they were told to start seeing a cancer specialist for follow up treatment. Since she didn't have insurance or was able to pay, she wasn't able to see the specialist. Sadly, she died before medicaid kicked in, months later. It's a myth that people here are denied life saving treatment because they can't pay. If you come to the ER because you've been shot, you are going to be treated.

Hospitals are waiving fees for the shooting victims. Not unexpected. The hospital is going to foot the bill.
That's mighty right of them, wonder what would have happened if there was no public scrutiny. Oh, the usual, out on the street, you know law of the jungle, where life is short and brutal, just like other members of the animal kingdom, who now live in preserves or zoos.

Cynical much?
It's unpopular to say it, but if you're the breadwinner in the family and you have a kid on the way it's a bit irresponsible to not have health insurance. Flame away at me now.
Yeah, too bad the insurance part of ACA doesn't kick in till 2014, which addresses this issue.
Read the Law | HealthCare.gov
Using the law to require people to do something they should be doing anyway doesn't "address the issue." But again, off topic. ...
