Help short battery life...how to improve it?

Had my phone for a day. Died after 10-11hrs of use wich is unacceptable... considering I didnt use it all that much (maybe 10-20 min wifi) the back light was set to dimmest and wifi and gps were turned off most of the time... so I want to see whats causing the battry drain. I have already rooted and removed bloat ware and going to install rom 1.1 but before that I want a program that will monitor and tell me which process useing my battery or CPU. as well as any program that will help my save some energy. Thanks alot.

if you are rooted try autokiller memory optimizer. Also get get setcpu and configure it for your needs.

You have some app eating your battery. You need to figure which one

mini info should help you monitor phone cpu and battery

So I installed custom ROM on my phone and have been monitoring battery usage ( I did install set CPU and have it set to 122Mhz when screen is off) the thing is in the bettery history it says that cell standbuy uses 53% of the batter and that 95% of the time I dont have signal...is there a way to fix it? I do freqwently dont have signal and would like to set it to attempt to look for signal on intervals instead off all the time? or manual airplane mode only way? I just know I will forget to undo it and then I will miss txts and calls when I do have signal...
or something that will prevent it from looking for signal if the screen is off?
Thanks

P.S should of checked the market first, trying out the autopilot, it automaticly turns on and of plane mode base on signal and can best to check for signal at certain intervals. pretty nice so far.

The Android system can show what programs have been using your battery. It is located in Settings->About Phone->Battery Use.

I used to have this on my phone and have been looking for it for the last week (couldn't remember where I'd seen it) but now I go settings -> about phone but there is no "battery use" option!

Did this go away with a recent update or something?

Thanks,

Jim
