Help Short Battery Life

The Battery life of my Motorola doesnt even last a day. I am a moderate user.

Please tell me what should I do to extend the battery life.

Return it for the Maxx!

Ohh so your probably in the same boat as the rest of us that bought the Razr and are past our return date just when the Maxx became available? Price the Razr at $199 and now the Maxx is the same price as the Razr which was $299.

Welcome to Motorola world. And if you're looking for unlocked bootloaders and ICS you're out of luck with that too. At least 6 months away for ICS.

Mine doesn't last a day too!
but im a super user!!
I use a lot of data flow!!

anyway, because it is a built in battery and due to the achievement of "thin"
the battery pack is set and cannot be changed.
Therefore here are a few tips that can help you improve your battery life.
1) if you are not downloading or tethering, use 3G. 4G connection uses a big chunk of battery life.

2) lower your brightness of the phone. (this is the main power usage!!)

3)set your account update to minimal!!!(It is important to reduce the data flow)

**The easiest way to save battery is to use the "smart action" control!!! You can set as much as you like in order to preserve your battery life. For example: When battery life is 40%, set data to 3G, lower screen brightness, etc..... You can save a lot of battery without knowing it if you use smart action.**

I will surely set that up and I don't even use 3G. I just use 2G network. In my country there is no 3G support :(

There is also one thing in Smart Actions, Motion Detector. So will it preserve my battery or it will eat up my battery?

I have ok battery life, but I keep chargers everywhere..work USB, car, home. I rarely am not near a charger so I always keep it as full as I can. I paid for the phone and screen and I kept the brightness at 100%! The Anker battery is also great to have in a pinch..goid luck!

My Razr has the best battery life of any Android phone I've owned. Way better than the HTC Incredible 1 that I had previously. No complaints. I get through most of a day without a charge I think - but - I have the Motorola navigation/car dock that I use any time I'm in the car, so even without giving much thought to the battery it just happens to get some charge time any time I'm in my car, to/from work, etc.

That being said, the 4G tends to run the battery down noticeably faster than 3G. Fortunately, you can change the setting. Not sure how to do it manually, but I downloaded a widget called 4G Toggle that lets you change the setting. I leave it on 3G permanently; 3G is plenty fast for my purposes.

I have excellent battery life. I can get 3+ days out of it if I want. With moderate usage about a day and a half. I would suggest you setup smart actions and use it. It works amazingly well.

Monoprice.com has several external backup batteries for cheap (I bought one for $13).

More specifics? Link? Sounds interesting. Thanks

That's what I have. Haven't really used it yet, but have tested it out. I was able to have it plugged in and charging inside my pocket without too much bulk.

They also have this http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083311&p_id=7664&seq=1&format=2. It has alot more capacity but is much bulkier (and I didn't want the fixed plug).

Oh, and they are a great source for hdmi or usb cables, or any other cable you need. I got 40ft of microusb cables and 20ft of hdmi for less than$15 with shipping.

i too have the same problem. use the best smart actions settings. Does even last for 24 hours. i dont even use live walpaper. I think if somebody can suggest the apps which drain the battery most we can avoid them. i dont use go launcher any more. currently have launcher pro and claystone launcher which i keep toggling. Good suggestions are really welcome.

Check apps that are automatically syncing data, change how often they sync to something less often (or, make it manual - that way YOU control when it syncs).
Big offenders are usually Facebook, weather widgets and mail.

then how come your battery last more than 3 days?

I set smart actions to do the following when the screen is off:

Turn off GPS, background data, Data, Bluetooth, Wifi.

So basically unless I'm using the phone everything is off. The 3 days + is with minimal usage. With some browsing, phone calls, downloading a few apps, etc I get 1.5 days.

You should really try playing around with it, it can do many different things and is definitely worth the time checking out.

dude there is an application named Droid Wall. I use that to stop the sync.

Is it fine to use that application for that purpose or should I try something else?

Do you mean background sync and cellular data??

Yes that is correct. When turning the screen back on the data comes back almost instantaneously so all in all I'm very happy with it.

I also downloaded an app called battery monitor x because I like to see how much battery I have left in 1% increments as opposed to the stock 10%.

Since the recent OTA, my battery life is just fine. I get through the day easy with moderate use. I recommend really taking time to set up the Smart Actions and limiting the syncs. I have found that they hurt your battery more than the 4g, which has really improved since the update.

Also, watch out for Task Killer apps. I have noticed personally that they end up hurting my battery more than saving it because they are ALWAYS running and at a heavy rate. Dunno if that Droid Wall does that, too.
