Should I consider upgrading from the DInc right now?

It's not on VZW and it's way too big for me. I am not a fan of the 4" + screen at all. What I love most about the DInc is the size. 3" is more than adequate. Although it may just be that I've told myself that so many times over the years that I'm not open to other possibilities.

I've held a Nexus S and an Epic 4G and the 4" screen seems just right. The Epic is way too bulky with the keyboard but the Nexus S is pretty nifty. It looks so nice with the screen, design and stock Android. BUT it felt weird having buttons in the "wrong" places. ICS should put an end to that I hope.

I'm sure 3.7" will be left to mid range devices and we'll be getting 4"+ screens on the super phones.

If that's the case, then I'll be sticking with the mid range devices. 4" is just too big to fit in my pocket comfortably and the bigger screen brings absolutely nothing of extra value with it IMO.

I upgraded from the DInc to the TB, and you're better off waiting.

Pros of the TB:
-4G speed really is amazing
-bigger screen is nice for games
-Can easily handle having more apps loaded than the DInc (haven't run out of space yet)
-Kickstand is nice.

Cons of the TB:
-Battery is as bad as you've heard.
-Really miss that AMOLED screen. The TB looks washed out in comparison. Also, hurts my eyes after a while.
-Viewing angles not as good as the DInc, either.
-Doesn't run Netflix as smoothly as the DInc – audio and video get out of sync.
-External speaker sucks compared to the DInc.
-Pics and video aren't any better than the DInc.
-Seems like it weighs twice as much as the DInc.
-Really miss that trackpad.
-Still can't use the front-facing camera because it doesn't have Gingerbread (unless you root).

In retrospect, I wouldn't have upgraded if I'd realized there'd be this many cons. Will definitely be upgrading to the Vigor when it comes out.

As of right now I'm absolutely fine on Gingerbread. I am excited about ICS, but I'm not holding my breath; it's impossible to truly gauge new features until you can use them. Since I'm nobody special, that will probably be long after thousands of insiders and people who run sites like Phandroid get to. Since I'm also a poor arse sunuvab, it will also be long after most regular folks do too.

The roadmap doesn't look so good on Verizon. Hopefully the Vigor is good, because the Bionic is really looking like a disappointment. If you want a smaller form factor I don't think you're going to get it.

That's why I was honestly curious what jmartino5920 saw in ICS that made it a "must have". All I've seen on it is that it has APIs that are supposed to eliminate fragmentation. It's also supposed to look the same on tablets and handsets. Supposedly the interface will be similar to HC. Beyond that I've not seen many details on it so I was curious what it was about it that made it a must have for him. It would seem he has insider information of some sort.

I upgraded to Dinc2, but gave it away within the hour and went back to my Dinc. I'm spoiled on the screen, size, and weight, so much so that my NEW plan is to 'upgrade' through ebay.

If the Vigor looks anything like that Holiday/California that just made its rounds, I'll pass. Ugliest darn phone I've ever had to look at with the letters HTC on it.

From what I've read it's a little better, but I still don't think it's enough of a hardware upgrade to be locked into it for another 18 months when some better phones are on the horizon (obviously there is always better phones coming out though). To me the inc2 is more like the inc1.5. Plus I'd miss the trackpad, and the front facing camera and world capabilities of the inc2 don't interest me.

My opinion might not be the same as others though, because I have nothing to complain about with my current inc. The battery life is good for my use, and I haven't had any of the common issues that people have (low on space, touchscreen issues, deletion of texts etc).

I haven't had any of those issues either and nothing has come close to making me want to jump ship.

The only complaint I've got about my DInc is the battery life. I get 6 hours if I'm using it heavily, maybe 8-10 if I'm not. That's really my only complaint.

I would hold out. I don't see any phone out there that I would want to upgrade to. I am waiting to see an HTC dual core phone. That is what I will probably upgrade to next. I really prefer HTC phones to all of the others. I have played with Samsung and Motorola and just don't like them. The Incredible is still a great phone, and if we ever get Gingerbread it will spice things up for a little while until newer dual core phones come out.

I agree. Samsung would be my second choice. I think I might actually cry if I had to use a Motorola daily.

I agree...but unfortunately we really don't get a choice any more The masses have deemed 4.3 ok, and that seems to be all the manufacturers are interested in making now. <sigh>

Oh, and yes: Everything has said the vigor will be the full 4.3, not even 4.0 which I probably woulda been happy with.

Between being fairly standard/ugly looking and being too big, the Vigor will not be "Incredible", but it will at least finally be a worthy replacement it seems. I have given up hope on another truly "Incredible" phone. It seems just like cars, they only make plain jane phones now for "mass-appeal". We need a Lamborghini and such for phones!

Wow, we really think alike, my thoughts exactly. Odds are it'll take awhile to achieve root too so the timing should be pretty good. I may upgrade early too idk. They finally changed my status to eligible.

I am holding on to my Incredible until either the Vigor or Samsung Galaxy S II. Probably the Galaxy since HTC has a track record of overheating phones (my DINC currently shuts off multiple times a day), so I'll stick with a proven technology giant in Samsung.

My DInc is now acting like it's giving up the ghost. Yesterday it randomly wiped my SD card and locked up so I had to do a battery pull 3 times.

If that was my only complaint, I'd either invest in a larger battery or more chargers, rather than use my upgrade on any current phones. I'm personally waiting to see how the moto bionic pans out (locked/encrypted bootloader). It has a supposed september release date. The new samsung galaxy might also turn out nice.

This is exactly right. Invest in more chargers. Car charger, home charger, work charger. You're next phone is gonna be micro usb also, so no need to buy more charging cords when you do upgrade. Strategically placed charging cords can seriously negate poor battery life.
