Should I get an Evo now or wait?

Same with me, i had a really crappy phone that was giving out and needed something fast. I guess if it's announced next week, ill just return my evo and use the phone i got from my friend for 2 months.
 
I bought my phone in early feb, as my blackberry was disappointing. I've been happy and even if the EVO 3D comes out, I'm confident my EVO 4G will continue to serve my needs.

Bottom line is, does the current phone you have meet and serve your needs now and do you really need to return and "upgrade" your phone, just to have the "latest and greatest" phone?

I've had my phone a month and I'm still learning things. You've had your phone 6 days, are you knowledgeable of all its capabilities? And will the EVO 3D really be that big of a difference for your smart phone needs?
 
It's not that i want the "latest and greatest" phone, i want a phone that will last me 2 years without becoming too slow for newer apps, since the standard keeps being raised. I'm just afraid my evo wont be able to keep up. It is a great phone though and does everything i like, i hate the battery life though :(

Is there anything that leads you to believe the current device wont see an upgrade nor be able to run newer apps?

Yeah battery life does suck!
 
With all the new dual core phones with 1 gb of ram and qHD screens coming out, it just seems it's becoming the new standard. The evo is fast, no doubt, but i'd just like knowing my phone can keep up for 2 years.
 
I feel comfortable this phone will last me another 2 plus years. (Of coursethis is coming from a Guy that has kept his desktops from 99 syllable up and going lol) Battery life is fine once you read through the battery threads....take it a step further and root it and your golden.

you can wait till after tuesday so that you can be more informed... about your decision.

yes.. I think you can return the evo.. and use your friend's old sprint phone.. till the phone you want drops. they should save your new contract phone purchase discount till you use it. BUT.. i would go to a sprint store to do it.. had have them print out a note from your file that they agree to this!!!!
 
Okay i just chatted with a sprint employee and i dont know if they understood. I'm new to Sprint, just moved from T-moblie on march 12th. If the evo 3d is announced I want to return my evo and use an older device i already have until the 3d comes out. Would they let me do that and when the evo 3d comes out could i get it for $199 or whatever the price is with a 2 year contract?

If you just came from t-mobile, how do you have an older sprint device that you could switch to?

Since your a new customer i'm not sure how it would work. You could return the phone within the 30 day window and cancel service? Maybe sign back up month to month with your buddies old phone? Not sure

I would call customer support and just explain the situation. They should be able to help.
 
So I haven't seen a thread post-news-release on this topic, so thought to ask this now more or less.

Right recently I became eligible for a $150 upgrade with Sprint and am debating things right now. I have a HTC Hero (which, really, I hated for quite a bit at this point and was waiting to see what Sprint had to offer on the 22nd before picking i tup.)

I'm hoping to try and stick to Sprint, since they have the best priced plan for what I tend to use, and there is a sale on the EVO 4G at the local store that I can get it for $200l. Right now it seems like, despite not being the top of the line in coming months, it will make me less frustrated by a decent amount then my Hero does.

he question is whether I should take the 4G for now, or wait for the 3D in your opinion? Wanted to ask in one of the two forums, but as most people here are 4G users, of course, and that's the phone right now on the table really.

So yeah, in short, would you buy one today given the choice, or wait the three-four months it'll be for the EVO 3D to come out?
 
That sounds like a personal preference. The evo now has all the problems ironed out and it's still a very capable phone that can be had for a good price. Hardware wise you never know what your going to get with the first batch.
 
If you can stand the Hero for another few months, you should wait for the EVO 3D. The EVO is a great phone, far superior to the Hero, but it is about to be replaced by the E3D this summer.

If, however, you need a phone right now, go ahead and pick up the EVO. But keep in mind that the end of its run is approaching. Basically it's your call:)
 
I had a Samsung Moment, and HATED it. I just recently upgraded after debating whether to wait for E3D or just get the Evo now and end my misery...

I am SOOOO glad I decided to just go get the evo now! The evo blows the Moment out of the water, and that’s an understatement. The EVO4G meets all my needs and then some, no more lag for this guy!
 
I am ready to get my first Android phone. I been using Windows phone all my life.

I was going to get the Arrive but was so disappointed. SO I was going to get an EVO, then I remember the 3G. So now I cant get anything.

200 is not a sale. That ia how much it was when it came out.

The evo is a great phone, but I would wait for the evo 3d and either get that or the evo 4g when the price has dropped. I am assuming the 4g should drop in price when the 3d gets released.
