People really need to have some patience. This phone is brand new and everyone expects technology to be completely seamless and perfect on release. Hero is a great product, and yes it has a few issues, but as a launch device, its fantastic. Things like this take time, and sofar, the advantages of the hero with android along with its potential, vastly surpass that of any other phone/os combination on the market right now. go get a WM6.5 phone and go be disappointed and pray 6.5.1 fixes things. how about an Iphone on a crappy overpriced network , a phone with blatant shortcomings, and a sheep like following of people who enjoy being hoodwinked, or you can get a blackberry and suffer from a lack of a touchscreen( i dunno how some people do it) , but an overall good device. Patience is a virtue with technology.
You may be right and any problems could be bugs that can be fixed. There are millions of lines of programming code in these phones programmed by people that are not infallible. I just got burned on the Blackberry Storm and like so many drooled for 8 months over each leaked software upgrade in the hopes that it would fix the huge number of problems. I spent a tremendous amount of fruitless time until I decided to sell it on eBay and try the other offerings out there.
I told myself I would be diligent about my next phone and not get all emotional about it, as so many do and I have a history of (phones, phone brands, and wireless services).
I do not have a Hero and freely admit that it could be just fine in the long run. I had a myTouch that has a lot of the same components and when I see videos of some of the same problems I had starting to emerge for the Hero, it is definitely reason for pause and enough to make me wait for the next option.
But I was asked my opinion so I gave it.
