Should I...Or shouldn't I?

I bought the T-bolt on day 1 release with a 1 year contract and have unlimited data. Yesterday I sold my T-bolt for $300 and switched back to an OG Droid while waiting for the nexus. My intentions were to buy the nexus outright so I can keep my unlimited data and get it right away. While at VZW yesterday, the salesman said that when my upgrade becomes available(January) I can get a new phone on upgrade price without changing my plan and losing my unlimited data. Is this true?

While I want the nexus, talks of it being $650-$700 retail is a hard pill to swallow if I can get it in january for much less. The only huge advantage I see to not using my upgrade is that since we are on 2 year contracts now, I could pay full retail now and in a year get something new with my upgrade if I want to vs. being locked in for 2 years if I upgrade. This all depends on if I am truly "grandfathered" in or not. What does everybody think?

what exactly are you asking?

The only way you would lose your unlimited data is if you left VZW and came back.

First of all, I want to congratulate you on selling your Tbolt for $300, you got $100 over the going rate.

Second, you may want to check about getting an early upgrade. One person on the megathread just got the CSR to make him eligible for upgrade, and he is 11 months from his upgrade date. Just call up Verizon, and ask. If you get told no, try again, some CSRs are more willing to do this than others.

If not, its really up to your preferences, either option you listed. As long as you keep your plan active, you won't lose unlimited no matter what. Early upgrade, phone at retail, or waiting till january and getting extension, you will keep your unlimited no matter what.

"you will keep your unlimited no matter what."

That is exactly what I wanted to hear!

As far as calling VZW, would I have better luck calling the 800 number or talking to a store clerk? Do store clerks have the power to do that?

You could buy the Nexus now off contract, and in January you could buy and iPhone and then sell it. $700-$300=$400 for you to use, if it works out. That's what I'm considering doing since I'm on At&t and can't get the Nexus through them, so I'd have to buy it somewhere else.

I sold my og droid with some accessories like an otterbox and 2 more batteries for 200 dollars. I am now using an old blackberry bold. I am having android withdrawals... ahh the things I do for Android. I WANT MY GALAXY NEXUS
