Root Should I root?

I bought the HTC evo 4g for virgin mobile. My optimus was rooted and i loved the benefits and id love to have those benefits on my evo as well, but i dont know if it would be smart. Im not looking to waste $250 from messing up my phone, should i root it or not? And if so, is there any way to root it without using a computer?

well you are asking the root forum this question.......so undoubtly the answer will always be yes!!!!!!

but just to be sure that we are talking about the same phone. do you have the evo 4g or the evo v 4g?

if you have the evo v 4g then i would post over here:EVO V 4G - All Things Root - Android Forums

Of course you should root, more options is better and rooting gives you more options right? Evos too are fairly easy to root and the guides for it are real easy to follow.

I totally agree with everyone else in this thread about rooting, but the more difficult question is should you stay S-ON or go S-OFF? When you get to that point this post may help you decide since that's a more complicated question.

Good luck!

S-On or S-Off, as ramjet said, is a more complicated question. That's up to you.

Rooting? Definitely. It takes...5-10 minutes roughly? Slightly longer, maybe. Just be sure you read the directions, and you will be fine :)

And as always, if you have any questions, post here or PM one of us :) We'll steer you in the right direction!
