Should I sell my iPod Touch?

if you plan on listening to music a lot on it, I'd keep it, bc the quality is much better on the iPod. but for all the apps you should be good with just an Incredible. I sold my Ipod touch 32gb.

Re: XM app - It can be a bit of a battery hog but it works really well.

YES. Why is this? I'm just using the 7 day trial. I might consider paying the three dollars a month but for two reasons:

1) It drains my battery WAY worse than Pandora. Usually I have ~60% battery after 12 hours, but today, after listening to XM a good bit, I was ~25% after 12 hours! At one point my Inc even got HOT. It never gets hot!

2) It needs a feature to let you listen a half hour behind the live broadcast so it can buffer. I go through Oak Creek Canyon on my way to school and usually lose Pandora for about 20 mins. But because XM is live it can't get a good buffer so I lose signal constantly. I've even lost it when I'm not in my car just because the signal in a building in Flagstaff was less-than-perfect. I think this app runs 1 minute behind the regular XM broadcast so at any time the largest buffer you'll achieve is 1 minute.

I've had an ipod touch for over a year and use it almost everyday while walking between lectures and at the gym. I don't use it as much now that I have the Incredible, not because I prefer the Incredible's music player, (I still like the Ipod's better, maybe because I'm used to it) but because it is much easier to carry around just one device. It's kind of awkward carrying around one in each pocket cause then you forget you have touch screens in both pockets and have a heart attack when you forget and put your keys and change in your pocket.

I saw an above poster had sold their 32 gb 2nd gen ipod touch for $230. Has anyone with a 16gb sold theirs? I might consider selling mine if it's worth enough.

Sell it an buy a Zune HD...it is far better than the Touch ever will be. I sold my Touch the day the Zune HD went on sale. Batter screen (The Zune HD has an OLED), better interface, is capable of handling more formats, does not require the use of iTunes, and I can store my music where *I* want to. It also outputs true HD via the dock, has an FM tuner, and an HD Radio tuner. It can multitask (sorry, I know that is a dirty word to apple owners everywhere). I can synch my Zune wirelessly. If I meet someone else that has a zune, I can share my music with their Zune with a simple touch. Did I mention that it does not require iTunes? That I can store my music and videos where I want to store them, and it understands more formats than does the touch? The rela kicker is that it has better audio quality than does the Touch. Much better. Seriously, Microsoft may not know anything about marketing, but you should give the Zune HD some serious consideration. The Zune HD is what an iPod Touch wants to be when it grows up.

I resisted jumping on the iPod bandwagon for many years (I'm an old Sansa guy) but last year I helped my son buy an iPod Touch. I had to have one as soon as I messed with his. I have the 3rd Gen 64gb and I just love it. My wife also an iPod Touch (32gb) and she also has an Incredible. :)

I have so much more storage on the iPod (have 16gb card in the dinc) for movies and such. I have over 25 gb of music alone on my iPod. It may not always all get played but it is there if I want it.

I don't carry both all of the time. If I'm just jumping in the car to run an errand or something I don't grab my iPod but if I'm traveling I always have both with me.

I use the dinc via bluetooth with my car audio system and have the iPod directly connected. If you want to play music in the car with the dinc you either have to do it via Bluetooth or via the headphone jack. I want direct control of the music player and the ability to speak to the phone to do what I want it to. I can't have all of that functionality by only using the dinc.

I think you'll regret selling it later if you do but if you must what generation is it, how much capacity does it have and how much do you want for it? I'd like to have a beat around iPod to use while I'm working in the yard or on the tractor.

I gave my iPod Touch to my 3 year old son the day I got my DInc. After using the DInc, the iPod Touch seemed to be more of a child's toy anyhow.

As soon as the Kindle App is released I will be selling my iPod Touch. That's the only thing I use it for since I got my Incredible.

when a phone can hold 160 gigs of music and videos then I'll put away my ipod.
I don't even have any music on my Incredible only my favorite music videos and I use last.fm

I also have almost no songs on my Inc. With Pandora/Sirius/etc. I normally just use them whenever I want to hear some tunes.

And when I workout I definately prefer my $50 little no name mp3 player. It's fell on the cement dozens of times and I would never want to workout with something that had a large screen on it! That's just me.

I'd keep your touch until your have the Inc. for a few weeks. If the touch begins to become unused, then go check ebay and see what you can get.

If you can part with it then and make some $$, go for it!

Personally, I've kept my 32GB iPhone 3GS simply because I bought a bunch of apps and games which I cannot transfer to my Incredible. I have considered buying an 8GB "iTouch" and transferring the few apps there, wiping my iPhone and selling it, but that seems like a lot of work for the $100 profit I'd get. Besides, I might use the iPhone for pre-paid calling in the one location my Verizon doesn't get service (a place I ski at in VT).

In other words, I probably wouldn't sell it.

I sold my iPod Touch 2G 16GB for $150. I sold it locally and had some people ask me about it after I had already sold it. I could have sold it for more, but I didn't mind selling it for $150.

I still use my iPod touch all the time nearly a week after getting my DInc. It has it's uses. I use it to play music in my car while I'm driving and I can carry it around for 8 hours at work and play music without worrying about battery life. I can't dock my DInc in my car so my only choice to play it through the car radio would be several wires. With my iPod I drop it in the dock and hit play. The interface is just so much slicker IMO. You have to consider that the iPod is born and bred to be an mp3 player and does an excellent job of it. The DInc isn't made primarily to be an mp3 player. I'm also worried about the impact on battery life if I'm using my DInc as an mp3 player all day. I don't worry about that with the iPod.

Download mixzing on the android, and DITCH that ipod... Why do people need to carry around multiple devices when you have something that is incredible already in your pocket. So the inc falls a little short with the music player, but the market more than makes up for it.

It's great to have the available space to add my own music but I have found myself just using Pandora more than my own library.

I stopped carrying the itouch soon after I got my Eris and I still have no use for it now that I have the Dinc. Every App (except Kindle) is now available on Android and Android plays video better than touch and music nearly as well.
But my kids love their "new" itouch

I'll probably end up keeping my ipod touch. I can't fit all my music on my incredible so I think the touch is the way to go. Plus I won't kill my phones battery anymore than i have to haha

I was actually planning on selling my 80GB iPod now... Since I got the incredible I haven't really used the ipod. Only did when I was driving, solely because I haven't had a chance to put my music on the Inc. With double twist this is gonna be a lot easier than i originally thought. Its just a hassle carrying both around and I'm more likely to have/grab my phone than an iPod that can only play music and videos. Plus i kept it sealed in the plastic and have a crap load of accessories so I should be able to get equal to/more than what I paid for the inc for my iPod judging from eBay prices.

I've contemplated the same thing but decided against it. I have a 160GB Archos 605 WiFi that I adore. Right now I've been using my phone just because it's new and I like being able to scrobble my music on the go, but eventually that novelty will fade and I'll go back to using my Archos. Plus, the bigger screen and kickstand on my Archos make for awesome movie viewing while in the airport or on a plane.

You've got to be kidding me right? The iPod touch has access to the same marketplace as the iPhone. There are way, way, way more apps in the Apple app store than there are in the marketplace. Say what you want about Apple, but having access to those apps is a huge plus for the iPod touch. That is one of the reasons I keep my iPod touch around. I use some of the apps on a daily basis and use the thing as a PDA. The DInc can't touch it when it comes to battery life. It definitely has it's uses.

i was in the same boat as you and decided to get my touch for two reasons, first of all the 32 gb sd cards are still to expensive and its nice to be able to have that much room for movies, second the games on the ipod are hands down better then the inc. granted that may change but thats the way it is now. but, if you just listen to music and dont really watch movies or play games then you may want to sell it.

I had an ipod touch before I got my incredible (my first smartphone). It has replaced my ipod. I gave my ipod touch to my girlfriend and she uses it now. I don't even really download music on my phone, I just use it for pandora now and plug it into my car with no trouble :). In my opinion its better than my ipod because of pandora on the 3g network anywhere :)

Backgound:
I sold my jailbroken 2nd gen 16 Gb iPod touch for $200 on eBay to get the Droid Incredible. I got about $180 after the fees and the droid cost $220 after taxes so I had a $40 difference to cover. I had the iPod for about a year. I did this about a month and a half ago.

Htc sense stock player:
The music experience on the Droid Incredible is OK but not amazing. The stock player isn't that good, and if u will do a lot of listening outside, the AMOLED screen won't perform well in direct sunlight. Specifically, the repeat and shuffle buttons are virtually invisible. A lot of people say they want a tag editor and such, but I do that stuff on my computer. I would rather see a google supplied, uniform way to sync music. Drag and dropping to my phone is OK, but every now and then I change my tags or want to remove some albums. I just have to make sure I have everything exactly the way I want when I put the songs on my phone. Also, I would like to see an equalizer. I'm against equalizers but depending on how I'm listening to my music, via headphones, car, theater system etc., sometimes they are too bassy and I would like to be able to adjust the equalizer.

doubleTwist:
And then comes the doubleTwist music player. Solves my main problems with the default player. It is much more usable, attractive, and easy to navigate. The buttons are huge and it also adds the ability to rate the songs in the music player. It also has a computer iTunes clone that will sync music. I've only used it once(before I switched back to the stock player) but it seems to get the job done.

But then it adds two problems. It doesn't have last.fm scrobbling and it can't read from both the internal memory. This poses a problem because I have an 8gb sd card in my incredible and I have my music split between the sd card and internal storage. Even if I went without scrobbling, this was the deal breaker. DoubleTwist has acknowledged this though and they are working on a fix. Hopefully the update will include last.fm scrobbling too. If so, I'm sure doubleTwist will become everyone's standard music player.

All the other music players:
Ugly, confusing interface, some include features I dont' need which just crowds the interface. Most of them at least have last.fm scrobbling. I would rather just stick with the stock player than these. I don't mean to hate, they are OK and a lot of people love these. Whether you prefer these to the stock player is just going to be personal preference.

Others may feel different but remember everyone's music listening habits and therefore, their requirements in a music player will be different.

What I suggest:
Sell your iPod, get the Droid Incredible, use the stock player until the doubleTwist update.

Other thoughts:
I don't know how big of a mobile gamer you are but my two let downs when switching to the droid incredible was the music player and the paid games. While I feel like in the app department, droid can match the apple app store, I think the paid game apps are seriously lacking. On the other hand, there are a lot of OK free games, but I would like to see more high quality paid games.
