Should we expect a release date tomorrow?

I think we are going to get some sort of leak before we here Verizon official date.

The funny part is we wont know it when we see it. With all of the "leaks" that have come and gone, unless it's an internal memo on VZW letterhead leaked by multiple sources we will probably just call the OP a liar and go back to quoting our discussions with chat reps.

At this point, I won't believe ANYTHING until I have the phone in my hands, and once they hand it to me to put my Google account in, I'm not handing it back... they can finish activating while "I" hold it, thank you very much :D

That's the thing. Verizon hasn't said anything about anything. It's their product. They can choose when to release info and when not to. It's not bad business at all. It's good business, they don't wanna rush anything. People have to be patient. Yeah, suppose they rush the release just because a bunch of you guys whine and cry and the phone isn't ready for the network or it has a bunch of bugs. Then you guys will be singing the tune of "Why did Verizon release this piece of crap!!! What happened to testing a product?!!"

I totally agree with this statement!! Same thing happened when they were releasing Blackberry Storm. BB Forums were going crazy but after it was released the threads turned into bashing Verizon for releasing this bug infested phone and how they should have tested everything. Just be patient. I'm sure Verizon wants to release it ASAP to because when the phones not release they are not making any money. So lets all calm down and hope it gets released soon.

It’s just inconceivable that after eight months of development and how far behind the release of the EVO that we are even discussing any of this. I don’t know who’s to blame, but in the end it’s Verizon’s product and some form of communication would be acceptable (not sometime this quarter). I’ve been waiting for a large screen non motorola smart phone for a while now and if I knew it was going to take this long I would have taken my business elsewhere.

I was in BB today (looking for Mickey Avalon CD) and ran over to the mobile while I was there. I noticed they had the TB display set up, but the dummy phone was gone?? I noticed the manager talking with a guy, so I stood by waiting. He noticed me and said "Hey, this is one of the guys waiting for the TB!" He introduced to the guy he was talking to. John, their VZ rep. I spoke with John for about 20 minutes. SUPER COOL DUDE!!!! He told me that NO BB's have the T-Bolt. He also said that the Iphone was a very small part of the delay. They have run into network bugs and are working around the clock to fix it. He also told me that as soon as the problems are 100% fixed, the phones will be shipped ASAP to BB. He did tell me that the phones would be at Verizon the very same day as BB. I asked him about the other phones on ther herizon. John said that the T-Bolt's "shelf life" may be short lived. He was talking very highly about the LG. He said he was super dissapointed about all the "Delays". I asked if he was considering the set backs "Delays". He assured me that they had every intention of releasing this phone weeks ago. He stated SEVERAL times that the phone would not be shipped anywhere until it was perfect. "That could be the 28th or it could be mid March. When ever it is perfect." Very straight forward guy and super nice guy. I told him that I would hold out until spring if the TB was not out by the 28th. He said "We are affraid of that." UUUGH!

I just don't understand why they would allow Best Buy to run sale ads, Verizon would run TV ads, and yet Verizon will not announce a single thing about the phone.

I don't get it either. That would be why all of these people are calling in and getting upset with the "We have no idea" answers to questions about the TB. They're marketing a product that's not on the market.

THIS is where folks can assume the device should have released by now and VZW screwed up with communication (as they seem to do always).

BB has a publish date lead-time. If the vendor does not update to change the ad space, no problem for BB, since HTC and VZW are STILL paying BB for the ad space in their circular. There is a problem though, since BB would have used the space for something else. None the less, they still get their ad space money ;)

BTW,

I expect as each week goes by now, the impact to TB sales is up to 50,000 units each week, since new phone leaks happen and consumer spite kicks in. They just move on to something else. Not referring to consumers on threads, but consumers in general.

Assuming landed cost from HTC is about $250 a unit, this would be over $12 million a week revenue impact for that product. If I am anywhere close- OUCH!

I agree that this could possibly have an impact on their sales. Me, if I choose to use my upgrade now (general now since we don't know when that will be) it will be on the TB. I happen to like HTC. I've had Motorola, and I prefer HTC. I'm not sold on LG or Samsung at the moment. However, people (general people) are impatient when it comes to things like this. They want something new and they want it now. If something else comes along first, they'll snag it up. (See "Screw the TB, I'm getting an iPhone)

And being that much closer to upcoming releases, once the TB comes out, it wouldn't be that much more of a wait for something newer. We've already waited this long.....

I think Verizon could do a much better job in the advertising/marketing department. Don't advertise a product that you're not willing to give any information at all on. They're essentially pushing people away from the product. When I got my call from VZW yesterday and was informed that they didn't know the release date for the TB, I was immediately asked if they could interested me in another device. Ouch, HTC, ouch.

And I'm starting to think that VZW hasn't released a date because they don't know a date. They might have one in mind, but they don't want to have to make a retraction. We're outside of the iPhone launch/14-day period now. Yes, they might sell a few more iPhones while we wait, but there will always be people in that window.

Dude, why don't you get off of Verizon's back and see it from the other side.

It's not one device, they screwed the release of the Incredible as well, and have a long history of being TERRIBLE with releasing things (Fascinate update, Droid X update)

Verizon needs to get their crap together.
verizon has not screwed anything up because they never gave a release date on the tb. if verizon had ever officially 100% decided that the release date was the 14th, then they themselves would have said so. everyone on this forum just took bb's word for it

so you think that hundreds of thousands of people watch these forums all day long? lol I am sure verizon will lose a few sales here and there from people getting pissy, or people seeing new things, but I promise it will be no where near 50,000 a week

Ok, first off I am not on any side at the moment, but everyone is in this forum for information. If a thread happens to not tickle your fancy, your free to exit stage left. I suggest we all agree to disagree, as well as agree that everyone has a strong opinion about what is happening at this moment in time. It may not be your opinion, but arguing about who is a fanboy of what is just childish AND absurd. If this keeps up, this thread will be closed and that much more information will not get out to those seeking it. Move along, nothing to see here.

Ugh, can we PLEASE move on? This isn't getting anyone anywhere, and by the looks of it no one looks any more mature then the person before them. It's the internet, let's not act hardcore behind the keyboard. This forum is about the THUNDERBOLT, just in case no one noticed.

Nope, I even point that out- Not referring to just thread readers. Consumers in general shift, as more products are offered and announced. Not to mention other products like tablets. Some will just buy tabs now, rather than update phones. Lot of stuff on a short horizon to choose from. The later the release, less opportunity- unless a monopoly.

Just general free market econ principles.

I'm not sure why some people are defending Verizon (maybe they don't want to bite the hand that feeds them?). Considering they seem to always come late to the party, offering up phones renamed with a mild cosmetic tweak to make them look "All New". As a consumer, I find it a little off-putting to get hand-me-down technology that's already been available on other carriers and thus typically outdated. This is just one of the latest missteps that tends to magnify Verizon's lack of innovation with their phone offerings. When companies get so big that they don't care about leading their industry then that company deserves all criticism wielded against them.

I think if the phone is delayed past early March, I'll just revisit the offerings from the other cell phone providers.

And you're well within your rights to do so.
