Show off your home theme

i just bought the Lg optimus m too and its my first ever phone..... and i would like to know how to get these kinds of wallpapers or home themes, whatever they are, would really appreciate it... Thank You

in terms of home themes in a basic sense, search the Android Market from your phone for home launchers. These are applications that provide you with a home screen from which to, well, launch things. In other words, the screen you see when you're not running anything else, and the screen you see in most of these posts. Reputable ones include ADW and Launcher Pro, both of which have free versions and paid versions. Paid versions usually have more features/ability to customize.

Once you choose one of them, you can search Android Market again for themes to download that work with them.

For example, daddy0702 who just posted above you is using ADW, and is using what's called "y0rk's white ADW theme".

As to wallpapers, there are an array of wallpapers that come on your phone to choose from, and most theme packs like the one above that you download will provide you with extra wallpapers as well. To choose a wallpaper, do a long press on your homescreen, then choose "Wallpapers" on the menu that comes up. The rest should be relatively self explanatory, although you're welcome to ask again if needed.

There are more things you can do with the theme, but they require heavier customization of the phone before you'll be able. From what you say, it sounds like you have not modified your phone at all. If you're interested in learning how, be very careful and proceed only when you have a reasonable expectation of what's going to happen after you try something, and start here first: http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-...e-asking-mostly-noob-proof-guide-updated.html

EDIT: I wrote this at almost 3:30 AM at a time when my mind typically isn't running full speed. So if something doesn't quite make sense or otherwise looks funny, that's why lol.

i did donwload both of them but i cant find where to get the themes.... do i go to the android market and download the theme that i want or is it suppose to be in the settings

yes, the themes come from the Android Market, and will not yet be on your phone until you download them from there.

Here's my current. I'm using A-Plus' ROM and Go Launcher:

The lock buttons are a bit off, but I shrunk them because they were overlapping. This is due to the font I'm using throwing things a little off with the character height. What I DO like though is that I got rid of the white dots that cover up the centers of all the lock pattern buttons. now at least it looks awesome when I get it wrong. lol. If you do that it involves modifying framework-res.apk.I say I "got rid of" the dots that cover the lock buttons, but you MUST NOT delete the two dot images from the apk. If you are missing any files, as I discovered, after you flash the new framework, your phone will bootloop. It's no big deal, just yank your battery, put it in, and reboot back into recovery and put something good back in there, but yeah. Instead, use an image editing software like Paint.NET (free and very useful for icon work!!) that will let you work with a clear background, and then just make the whole thing a "clear" image so it won't show up.

if i were to guess it would be Joneidy's Sense rom using ADW Ex with Sean Yorks white theme customized in the kitchen to have his dock bar be blue

I really like the look of your home screen.

Me too
whats the name of it

if i were to guess it would be Joneidy's Sense rom using ADW Ex with Sean Yorks white theme customized in the kitchen to have his dock bar be blue

Joneidy's sense comes with ADW EX, but i paid for it to a) support the developer(s), and b) get the updates. Sean York actually has duplicates of the same theme but in several colors, blue being one of them. So I just downloaded his blue theme. I actually downloaded all of the colors so I could play with them and get the icon packs n stuff, but I'm sticking with blue for now. here's the market link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nuyork.adwblue&feature=search_result. It's just like the white theme, except everything's blue.

As to the rest of it, I did a lot of tweaking. I used a UOT kitchen theme, but I didn't like all of the icons there. So I kept some of them, but then I went back and grabbed some icons out of Joneidy's original framework-res.apk, and used Paint.NET (freeware image editor--AWESOME) to change the shade of blue they all had to match the rest of the theme I got from the UOT kitchen. Once I had the icon set I wanted, I put it all together and copied a replacement drawable-mdpi folder full of them back into a copy of the original framework-res.apk. If you use 7zip, you can open apk archives on your computer, but you can't create new apk's that way, so you have to copy directly into the archive. it works though.

Beyond that, I also used Paint.NET to resize the lockscreen dots to kill the overlapping, and the two images of white dots that cover the center of all the lock dots, I made them perfectly clear images so the pretty red/green/gray centers of the lockscreen dots would show up and so things would appear more lined up. I tried just deleting those two images from the apk all together, but my phone bootlooped after flashing that, so I had to go back into recovery and flash something good, and then do what I described above to get the desired effect.

I also borrowed the footer/pull-down of the notifications pane from the old version of the sense rom because i liked it better.

EDIT: I also searched the net for a font that I liked, and flashed it accordingly. You just need dual copies renamed each as "Clockopia.ttf" and "DroidSans.ttf", and then another duplicate or an actual bold version of the font named "DroidSans-Bold.ttf", put them in a fonts folder, get a META-INF with the right instructions (I managed to edit one that came from one of the UOT downloads that originally had fonts in it), put 'em all in a zip file and flash it. The name of the font I'm using is Aovel Neo Font. I had to edit the capital "G", because the little hook that makes it a G and not a C was too faint, so I found a free font editor. other than that the font is untouched, and I'm using his bold version for everything. That guy's font can be found here: http://www.dafont.com/aovel-neo.font

My next goal is to revamp that ugly ass dialer to get it using the same blue highlights as the rest of the rom.

That is a very......precise highlight! :p I do wonder though--on the dock bar, I see you're using that lens-looking icon in the ADW icon packs. Am I seeing it correctly as a camera lens?

EDIT: And, you do realize that you may now very well be getting some unwanted calls, right? lol. Not from me, but your phone number is there for all to see.

EDIT: Also, I see you have some sort of time stamp by each of your notifications. Is that seconds/hours/minutes? And is it increasing? As in, you got a 4th voicemail 36 minutes before you took that screenshot, or something to that effect?

If so, how do I do this? It sounds like an excellent idea, but I didn't notice it in the UOT kitchen...

The time stamp has always been there as far as I know. It shows the last time whatever's there was used/updated.

Yeah I noticed my number out there after the post but I said the hell with it. I might edit it in the morning.

As far as the icon I believe it's a speaker but could be a lens. Funny thing is I'm using it for my fb app. Haha

Oh and I've also noticed, even though every y0rk theme comes with a 3d lookin lil bird for a Twitter icon, it never applies that icon to my twitter app in my app drawer. I'm just using twitter.com's original app. I know I can set any icon I please on my home screens, but that's not what I'm looking to do with Twitter. What about you? Could you check, or if you don't use Twitter, at least try it out real quick and then ditch the app to see what it does?

I know that there's still a bunch of white around the edges and hence I need to fix that, but at least for the concept, what do y'all think?

The black screen phone actually comes from the UOT kitchen, except I edited out the tiny "htc" logo that was on the image. That's one oddity about UOT--they REALLY like HTC. I have nothing against HTC, but I don't own one either. At any rate, I'm looking for opinions on the general concept of a photographed usb cable end. Just using a google searched image that had no watermark.

Made a quickie boot animation for fun while I was fooling around working on a real one. If there's an Optimus M boot ani thread, I welcome mods to move this there, but this is hardly a serious boot ani, so I felt silly starting a thread with it lol.

Who in here watches anime, and has seen Macross Frontier? Remember Ranka Lee? If you know what I'm talking about, you'll get a kick out of this. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, well, you probably won't get it lol.

you should be able to place this in /data/local, or /system/media using root explorer once you get a copy on your SD. No need to use ADB or anything unless you really feel like it. I'm on the Sense rom, and boot anis play out of /system/media on this one. I think on the stock rom you had to put it in /data/local. it must remain named bootanimation.zip for it to work, and so you can rename your current one if it's there, and/or move it elsewhere.

File is attached.

simple indeed. I admit, with the aesthetics on my cars (I mean generally--I only have one and it's not that great lol), I like to keep it simple. I think all the chrome hubcaps/autozone mufflers/underglow/spoilers as big as the car/"TYPE R" stickers/dragon seat covers/seatbelt pads w/chinese symbols/camo steering wheel covers/etc/etc/etc are all, well, tacky as can be.

But when it comes to my phone, I get a huge kick out of decking it out and making it all super geeky with buzzers and whistles. lol
