Help Signal issues

Has anyone else found that their galaxy s2 has signal issues?
For both wifi and phone signal it seems to be very low.... I only got the phone 3 days ago and its very annoying!

I got it from phones4u.... shall I return the unit?

Signals etc are down to the modem you're using, and certain modems can perform better for certain regions. You need to find out which works best for you.
To install another modem, you will either need to do so through Odin, or be rooted and install throught CWM recovery.

A list of modems can be found here

this is only a list, and does not state which one is better for which region etc.

Hi Phippsy, and welcome!

The first step is to determine what firmware and baseband your handset is currently using. Can you go to Menu/Settings/About phone and list the version strings shown for baseband and build number?

Base no. I9100xxki1
build: gingerbread.xwki4

thanks for any help with this issue!

That looks like the most recent generic (non-network) UK firmware, alright. Don't take the graphical signal indicators as gospel, but if you're seeing dropped calls or connection failures then take it back and explain the issue. I'm assuming you had no problems with your previous phone?
