Help silent phone

is it possible to completely silence the commando? Have not been able to fiquire out how silence the popout slider and camera

menu - settings - sounds - check the box next to silent mode.

What I really want is a way to disable the sound on the slide out menu without putting the phone in silent mode.

Yeah thats what i meant. I have learned to silence the whole phone. The stupid sounding camera shutter and the pop out slider sounds i could do without permantly. Would rooting enable me to remove this?

I've had the phone for two weeks now and Love it!!!! Regardless of the fact I'm on my 2nd one...due to my first being DOA..... No biggie still love the phone and the setup!!

In regards to silencing the phone in a simple manner you can hold the power button which will launch a menu with three options (Silence mode, Aircraft mode, Off). Hope this helps and enjoy the phone!

The pop out slider menu noise was so annoying I just don't use it. With 5 screens there's plenty of room for what I need. Love the phone otherwise. No real complaints. As for the camera shutter I just do a quick touch of the volume down key and that kills it. Good enough for my usage.

Are you rooted? You can silence the the slider and camera noises by renaming the sound files. Super easy with root explorer. Let me know if I can help

I can't seem to find the sound file for the snap out menu. Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks

ok i found the files, deleted them, as soon as i use the snap out menu there is sound, so i go back in and the sounds are back. how can i delete them and keep them gone, or find out were else they are hidden?

please help!?!?!?!?!?

Make new sound files that contain nothing but silence and replace the old files with the ones you made.
I don't know what program will make the right file extension, .ogg, for those sounds.
I made a new one for the boot sequence, just an .mp3, mine boots silently now.

Look in the "Silent Boot" thread I started in the "All things Root" forum for how I did it....and you can download the .mp3 file I created.

nope didnt work,

i converted mp3 to .ogg saved to my sd card as

1.ogg
2.ogg
3.ogg
4.ogg

copy and pasted them in to the folder and went to home screen and tried it. and there was sound!!!!

thanks for the idea anyways was worth a shot.

anyone else have any ideas or luck silencing the snap out menu??????

Are you sure that you ""converted" the .mp3 file, or did you just rename it?
BIG difference.
Do the sounds play when you click on them within the phone?

I did a small experiment for you.

I deleted the 2.ogg and 4.ogg files. (the snap-out sounds)
I then copied the 1.ogg and 3.ogg files to the SD card and renamed them as 2.ogg and 4.ogg, respectively.
I then moved them to the /data/data/....(where i previously sdeleted them from).

If you try the snap out menu before rebooting, it sounds like it did originally.
If you reboot, they take on the replacement sound files I copied and renamed.

I suggest that the system retains them in RAM until the phone reboots, so the changes don't appear until you reboot.
I also suggest that if you do not leave the system with a valid .ogg file to use, it somehow finds a proper copy and replaces the file.....making the system original.

The keys steps are:
1-Make sure you replace it with a proper .ogg file.
2-The changes will not take until you reboot.

Lastly.......I hate the crappy Home app.
Once replaced with something like Go Launcher EX, you will never hear those sounds again. That, and it is alot easier than trying to fix the sound files.
I get way more function out of Go Launcher EX......and I completely removed the Home app from the system using Titanium.

I had to bring it back for one reason: To try to help you.

sweet that worked. thanks.

i like the default launcher just not the snap out menu's noise.

thanks i will have to just work on the sound a little more you hear a little bit of a click like the speakers are turning on, just not complete silence.

but other then that thank you so much big help!!!
