I apologise already for my stupidity....have recently bought the desire and have started getting some symbals appear in the top left hand corner of the home screen......i have searched high and low on the net for explanations as to what they mean and cannot find the meaning anywhere....its starting to bug me!!!
A budge in the right direction would be muchly appreciated!

It wouldn't surprise me if one of the symbols is the 'cannot update time' notification? If it is, you can disable 'Automatic' in the Date & Time settings menu. Drag down the notification bar at the top of the screen, to see the notification messages.
