this is kind of fishy to me... i froze the sim toolkit application because it was causing serious battery drain.. it seemed to have worked for a couple of days . then this morning i woke up and took a look at my battery analyzer and sim toolkit is #1 drain and my battery is dying fast.. its frozen! how the heck is it still running? any ideas ? lol

Well sorry thats the wrong move never mess with the sim tool . If you dont know whAt these items are feel free to ask or just Google it . The tool kit isnt draining your battery something you have dl that is causing it to stay on if you feel its a problem just copy one from a stable esteem rom and paste in your system file with root explorer and when it ask to over write u check yes .:what::D:rolleyes:

i know what it is though and from what ive read some people even removed it and all was fine.!? although i wouldnt remove it lol . hmm ive completely wiped everything off my phone and flashed a fresh 2.5.1 but it still pops up as main battery drain.

Hasn't been on my phone in a year... no problems without it - that I'm aware of.
well.... does anyone know the actual purpose of stk? technically we dont even have sim cards right? lol those things in our phones are just some other form of un-needed plastic?

You're right - our phone doesn't use a SIM card... I always assumed it was for mobile banking, and to assist the various Metro bloatware that comes stock on the phone. But, I've often wondered if Metro doesn't use it to help them monitor their customer's data usage?

yeah there's a lot of questions lately about metro minitoring us etc.. but that shouldn't be a prob as long as ur not a terrorist i'd assume.. lol seems to me like its a tool used for something service related? maybe.. i dont know..

the sim aka uicc card might need that app for lte/4g you think??? ;)
i would assume it something for that.. maybe just a test app for it or something similar that only people that work at metro or lg know how to access lol.. i mean people are saying their devices work fine without it so im not 100% sure lol

I know for a fact that 4G works without it... has not been on my phone for the last year - and every ROM I could flash made no difference. I'm really temped to believe that SimToolKit is for Metro's various services/bloatware (where they monitor data usage - for whatever reason)

i dont think its for monitoring.. well not completely, i think it is more what it says.. a 'toolkit' just used by service admins to run tests or troubleshoot issues... i could be wrong though...

Yeah, I think you did too. I froze mine the first time I read this post. Not having any problems. In fact, it seems that my data is running better. It may just be me though:D

yup. my 4g is a bit faster and also my battery is not draining like it use to. :D

hmmm... this makes me wonder.. could it be the/a reason why some people have good/bad service with 'some' roms?

btw consider it deleted in any of my updates LOL

haha sounds good to me although i havnt had any problems with your roms...except that one timeeee... jk haha . Great Work L .!
