Help SIM Unlock Issue

Are you located at U.S.? Is it true that Verizon blocks T-mobile?
I just purchased a Verizon HTC incredible 2 and got an unlock code from verizon. I Disable SIM card lock with the code. However, when I insert my T-mobile SIM card, the phone still shows "No service". Please help! How do you get the t mobile to work?
I did switch Preferred Network to "GSM/UMTS Mode", it still shows "no service". I tried with my Simple Mobile SIM, again, it shows "no service". When I go to "Disable SIM card lock" under security, it clearly shows "SIM lock is disabled." but my phone will not work with other SIM card, someone please HELP!

please let me know if you get this working, i too need to get my incredible 2 unlocked for T-MO, wondering if i should just sell it and move on. im NO phone tech, i have no idea what to do and i dont wanna screw the phone up trying. seems like its not the easiest task to get it working for T-MO in the US. dang!
Im in the US

I was told the same thing -- that an "unlock SIM" screen would pop up the first time I inserted a foreign SIM card while outside of the Verizon network.

Well, I went to my own "foreign" country earlier today -- the machine room in my basement where there is no Verizon service -- and I never saw an "unlock SIM" screen during multiple reboots of the phone.

So I called up Global Customer Support again, and I spoke to a customer rep who actually believed me. He went and rounded up a Dinc2, then tried a third-party SIM in it. He wasn't able to get the illusive "unlock SIM" screen himself. So we both walked through the various menus, and decided to give the Settings:Security a try.

Sure enough, under Settings:Security, there is a menu item for "Disable SIM card lock". Choose that menu item and then type in your MEP code that Verizon gave you. Hit OK, and the phone will reboot.

I just confirmed that my phone works just fine with my Virgin Mobile SIM.

BTW, unlike my VZW Touch Pro 2, which works fine in the US with an AT&T SIM card in it, my Dinc2 will not see a network with the same AT&T SIM inserted in it.

just got my thunderbolt under verizon, im living in the philippines and i cannot use the phone. I tried to insert a local sim card and it says "invalid or insert valid sim card.. what should i do? can i unlock this phone.. tnx please email me @ m7cabrera@gmail.com.

Please help,

I have been having so many issues with Verizon that my heart is about to EXPLODE. Apart from being on my 4th replacement HTC DINC2, I am now unable to get my newest replacement up and running.

I am currently in Spain. When I first arrived, I was provided the unlock code, I purchased a local SIM, and everything went perfectly fine. Since then, my DINC 2 died and I paid $50 to ship a replacement to me here in Spain (Express - took 9 days). I just received it and I tried punching in the same SIM unlock code, but it said it was incorrect. I called Verizon and after being spoken to like an idiot for 3 hours and 17 minutes, I finally got a hold of a representative that knew what I was talking about with the SIM card unlock code. She provided me with the EXACT same code and obviously, it didn't work. She said there was nothing else to do and now I am just beyond upset because I have had nothing but problems with this phone. I haven't gone more than 5 weeks w/o the phone breaking or dying on me and I have also never ONCE dropped the phone.

You need to provide vow the imei for the new phone. The code for the old one wont work.

Ya, that's what I thought. I provided all the information they asked for, yet they still gave me the same exact code. I'm very upset at the way they handled the situation as the representative clearly didn't want to help me and I have been nothing but polite and patient with the representatives. Sigh. I don't know what to do :/

Hi, I am from Australia. My friend just left me with Verizon Thunderbolt which is showing no service when I put my 3 Network sim. Can anyone help me out to get signals on that phone?

Cheers,

After reading this whole post, I am left confused. Maybe somebody here can help.
I am purchasing the inc2 from verizon and they are going to provide me with the unlock code. The purpose of this phone is only to use with my foreign sim card when I am out of the country (which I am most of the year). My question is, when I am back in the US, will I be able to see who is calling me (and SMS) on my inc2 with the foreign sim in it?
I am coming from a Droid PRO (also global), and I could not get it to work when I was in the US. Super frustrating. I am hoping the HTC inc2 is different.

I'm having a problem unlocking the SIM. I have Incredible 2 unlock by code ( 8 digi)

ON HTC incredible 2

Settings:Security, there is a menu item for "Disable SIM card lock". + enter unlock code

but after enter unlock code , Incredible 2 will reboot

My problem is: After unlocking SIM I try to switch to GSM mode. It says "There is no SIM card on your device. Your device will switch to CDMA mode now". I tried number of working SIMs of other people phones... No success.

hey guys,
I'd like to thank every contributor in this thread; but still more effort is still needed.
I face the same problem as ( "barakko", "nhtu2002" & "Bad Monkey" )
some of us does live in US while the others are overseas, nevertheless our problem is common, we tried many things to have Dinc2 working with "non-verizon" SIM cards but no success till now...:(
any help out there !!

I too, have been having the same issue as suhilan, barakko, nhtu2002 and Bad Monkey where I successfully unlocked my Incredible 2, but still was faced with the "no SIM card in device" or "unknown SIM" errors when trying to switch the phone to GSM mode, using both the Verizon and AT&T SIM cards that I tried. I have been trying to resolve this issue for days, and finally figured out my problem having been that the factory had the SIM card inserted backwards in my phone, and I decided to reverse it so that the notch on the SIM faces the bottom of the phone, leaving the contacts the same way it came from HTC, towards the face of the phone, and my unknown SIM issue is now resolved. I successfully tested both voice and data on the AT&T network. Hopefully, the fix is that simple for you all too!

Can I get my phone unlocked if I have already left the country? Wish I knew about all this before I left! haha

After having spoke with a Verizon representative about the entire process and picking his brain for a bit, I was able to conclude that by using the unlock sim process on the phone with the Verizon Sim inside it, you'd be disabling the Verizon sim card and it would no longer work.

I have a keen feeling that this is what is causing a lot of the problems that many of you are facing with this phone, but then again I could be wrong about this.

For the record, this sim unlock will work just fine if you put in a foreign card and use the sim unlock code.

It didn't for me.
How did you switch it from CDMA to GSM/UMTS when it just rejects to change mode with the same idiotic message - "There is no SIM card on your device. Your device will switch to CDMA mode now"?

Right now works for me only this:
barakko, did you ever get this sim problem resolved? If so, how? I am in the same exact boat you were in...

I thought there was only one way sim would go in? how did you re-orient? my sim is correctly installed, yet I have the same problem...

I thought that the card can only be inserted 1 way as well, but that turned out not to be the case. I found that in my case the SIM card was inserted from the factory with the notch facing the top of the phone, and I tried reversing it as a last resort so that the notch faced the bottom of the phone after days of trying to resolve my GSM errors. I tried ROM after ROM after successfully unlocking the phone trying to resolve the issue, but the fix for me was reversing the SIM card, and now it works with any ROM that supports GSM. Good luck racha24 and I would check the orientation of your card in case it's a simple fix like mine was.

Just a thought, after I unlocked my phone I had to turn it off and on three times before it would recognize the AT&T Sim card.

It may have to do with clearing some data in memory, but it works now with no problem.

I also had the issue most here have experienced with the no sim card problem. I had inserted a tmobile card exactly the same as my verizon global card was inserted.
After reading through this, I decided to give it a shot and inserted it with the notch facing DOWN, towards the bottom of the phone (therefore making the notch visible) booted up and locked in immediately. Sent a test text and phone call and bingo, it works!
