Help Sim unlocking the desire?

Yeah I'm doing my best but I'm in the middle of exames, gotta study. And damn Paypal with their endless rules wont pay a buck! I'm noting down stuff like this, 122.172.20.1 Sudarshan Ramesh - HTCCode - Remote Unlocking, so I can sue those damn bastards! :)

If I unlock HTC Desire and I'll start on it on another carrier, can the original block this unlocked phone if the phone is still under the tariff.
If your phone is unlocked, has over them, the original carrier still some power? I'm thinking about buying second hand HTC DHD, which is still under tariff Three, Ireland and start on it to use Vodafone CZ. I'm afraid what happens when the original owner no longer pay a monthly fee. Can the original carrier blocked that phone ?

i live in the czech republic, and am thinking of buying an HTC desire on ebay in the US. it says it is locked to US cellular... does anyone have experience unlocking from this provider? what about actual brick-and-mortar mobile phone service shops where they do repairs, as well as unlocking?

Hey presto!!

- all these frikken con sites charging high fees to unlock your phone, meanwhile - & hopefully this is the same with all UK mobile providers - but I simply (As per mentioned earlier in this forum by another chap) contacted my provider "3" with whom I have only had my HTC Desire for 3 months of an 18th month contract, told them I would be going overseas for 2 weeks and plan to use a local sim, so without any further questions they advised me that the unlock code is

Anyone who wants to unlock for free might want to check out this thread over at XDA. Another user here had success with the most recent version, after getting the runaround from 3 and HTC. Read the thread first, I'm not responsible if you break something, &c.

(this is the thread on this forum, if you're looking for 'local' evidence)

HTC Desire SIM-Unlock Utility [Archive] - xda-developers
don't purchase a code for the love of god there are ways to do it for FREE.

I just unlocked my phone in 20 mins mainly because im a noob or would have taken 2 min if i didn't have to research it and go through sites with idiots telling me to buy. Use link at top of page Download the app you have to read there is a link/ he posted the sites, then mount ISO, burn to disk, then in start up f2 menu tell comp to boot from disc and follow instructions. done any sim will do now.

I bought a Desire HD locked to Orange. I first tried HTCCodes.com but stopped getting a response after asking a question. So I went to a phone shop in my high street, the said they could do it in 45 minutes. I didn't realise they were trying to hack the phone rather than enter the code. Anyway, 2 hours later they said they were having some problems and would need to send it in. It will be a couple of days.

Wondering if I should just ask for it back and try something else?

Do whatever, just don't get involved with these online unlocking scamers like htcsimunlocking.com and similar...

After two days the guys at the shop couldn't unlock my Desire HD locked to Orange, so I took it back and gave HTC Codes a call. I had my code within 20 minutes and my phone is free at last.

Very happy with the fast and efficient service.

Don't waste your time with dodgy hackers in phone shops.

This is the standard desire forum though. We no longer need codes or dodgy people in shops as we can do the desires ourselves :)

I didn't realise! I just did a search and came across this thread.

You obviously have some personal vendetta against them, I don't really care.

I'm living proof that their codes work.

If anyone thinking of using them wants to contact me privately, feel free.

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if all of you'll have seen this. You can now unlock your Desire GSM phones ON YOUR OWN. There's a flaw in the radio of the HTC Desire that allows you to unlock it. The nice guys at xdadevelopers made a nice easy iso to do the work for us.

HTC Desire SIM-Unlock Utility - xda-developers

I have a HTC Desire on Telus in Canada. I had to repeat the unlocking step twice (or thrice, I can't remember) and it worked after that!

Use the sim unlocking utility. It's available in the toolbox thread. Read the last few posts as you need a password. You burn it to cd and boot your computer from cd

Cheers rastaman.

Does anyone know where I can find a step by step guide on what to do for the sim unlock as I currently have patchy information and I don;t want to miss a step out by mistake.

So far I understand the process to be:
1) Download the v0.95 utility and burn it to cd,
2) Reboot my pc and hit F2 to enter the boot screen thingy and get it to boot from cd,
3) Hopefully the utility will boot correctly from this point and then I should follow the on screen instructions.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct?
