Root **Simple Root from xda** (9-23-11)

Well, I followed this procedure and its done. Now... how do I actually know my phone is rooted? It started on again as nothing happened, all the same settings. Yes, Im sort of a noob on this stuff

It actually still makes the goldcard, just the revskills site people gave the source and some hackery by genepool on xda/#liberatedaria irc channel got it working with the hack kit that you don't even notice it makes the goldcard.

will this hack kit work on my inspire that has been updated to gingerbread thru the AT&T software update? Or is it only for phones that are running the 2.2 froyo?

Yes it works. I had GB update and it did worked for me.

Download the file, read the Effen Manual, follow the preparation process (uninstall htc sync and itunes, turn on debugging and other simple stuff), open the file AS AN ADMINISTRATOR and just hit start. Then watch your phone being rooted. It will reboot a few times. It took me about 7 minutes and done.

so in essence someone finally made a simple one click method for the phone...SWEEEEEEETTTTT!!!!!...but i have an issue....when i go an download the file..it downloads fine but when i right click the file to run as administrator...that option isnt there...it just says open, cut, copy, paste and properties....am i doing something wrong?

DId you unzip it?

And please read the "effin manual" once you get it unzipped before doing it, To be sure you take the precautions to possibly encounter no issues,

You must decompress everything as it is in the compressed archive. Right click on the file and press extract. Then read the Effen manual to understand what you gotta do. A short explanation of what you have to do (you still gotta read the effen manual):

- Decompress the downloaded file
- Uninstall HTC Sync, iTunes or any smarthphone software.
- Disable any antivirus.
- Turn Debug mode on your phone.
- Connect the phone on "Charge only" mode.
- Right click on the file (which name I dont remember) and run as adminstrator.
- On the command screen, press 1 and enter
- Let the magic happen.

This on windows. On linux/mac seems to be even shorter, but I did it on windows. Your phone will reboot several times during the process, but it won't ask for anything during it. Don't get scared if you see the screen fading out (I did :( ).

Then on the effen manual there's other optional steps you can do. Read the effen manual.

Are you using XP? if so you're likely already an admin. A full admin. The right-click "run as admin" option is only in vista/7 where admin users aren't completely admins unless they click yes/admin on certain things.

Easy way in xp to see if you have admin rights, right click the start button and if it shows like 6 options with 2 of them being "open all users" and "explore all users" you're admin. Non-admins only have 4.

On xp if admin, you just double click a file and it;s the same as right click run as admin on vista/7.

ok i fixed it..the command screen actually stays on the screen now and it runs...but before i do this..the kit does install the correct radio on it correct?...thats my biggest fear is perma-bricking the phone...I dont feel like having to buy a new one...sorry for being a pain in the butt with the questions..im a noob with this stuff...LOL

ok so i attempted the root...but it got stuck at "waiting for device"....I guess i have to do that alternate downgrade?

That happened to me. Did you checked all the preparations on the effen manual? I missed turning on debug mode on the phone and I had that "waiting for device" problem.

On your phone go to menu - settings - applicatios - development - USB debugging (turn to on)

but before i do this..the kit does install the correct radio on it correct?

It says on there either in the manual or on the start screen of the hack kit that it installs a "correct radio". The newer (but not newest) auto goldcard gen'ing ace hack kit 14xx I used 2 or 3 weeks ago did a radio and kernel downgrade to expose a root vulnerability and after it had gained root by doing that it installed a Telus radio from sometime in july.

I've been doing some looking around to try and figure out of that's good. I haven't changed the radio since it's done that, I have no problems and I see people in the cm7 rc1 and cm7 nightlies threads on xda running this same Telus radio as me as well as the ATT one from april.

Whether it puts the correct kernel back or not I don't know. I saw something once about it may disable audio but that may have been an older version of the ahk. I didn't even try to see if audio worked on mine before blowing away htc's os and putting cm7 on.

edit: if it does disable audio and the htc os is what you're wanting to keep you'll probably have to flash a rooted stock rom from xda. (don't quote me on that though)

On your phone go to menu - settings - applicatios - development - USB debugging (turn to on)

Debugging was on the whole time. Any other ideas? Shud I do the downgrade then? I checked all the preparations in the effin manual. They were all good. But I was gonna try something else and try it on linux ubuntu because on the bottom of the elfin manual says it was a better success rate on that because it won't have any of programs that windows would have on such as iTunes or any virus software/malware programs.

overall this root method is good id say. its deff almost fool proof. (almost) just remember to enable usb debugging. i was geting pm's from alota people and this seemed be a common problem and also unzip and run as admin. i cant stress enuff just read the effin manuel. its all there and if you go step by step it shouldent take any longer that 10 to 15 mins includeing reboot time.

Finally got it to work. It's officially rooted. Had to do it on my windows xp machine. But the root process was flawless. Worked beautifully and much thanks to the developers who came up with a simple root method. Will be donating as soon as possible.

Good to know you did it. Probably was something with the pc

ohh yea...the older way that took like a half hour to finish was too risky i thought...this was just like a superoneclick root.

and yes the win7 laptop has a bunch of bs programs that i think were locking up the root...its very sensitive...LOL....but the winXP laptop its bone stock and has the factory programs on it...nothing extra...i think that was the solution

OK...but now i dont know what rom to put on the fone....i dont know which one i want to use...i want something with sense 3.0 and i want it to be fast as hell
