Root **Simple Root from xda** (9-23-11)

For those interested i can confirm the s-on/restore stock rom option (if you ever need to do this) worked perfectly using the advanced ace hack kit.

I had to do this the other night when I had a problem with the ROM I flashed and for some reason my nandroid backup also wouldn't restore. I ran the Restore to Stock option and it worked. However there is the option to return to stock ROM and keep S-OFF. I tried that and when I was back up and running and my apps reinstalled, non of the ones that need root could gain root access; ROM Manager, Superuser, Ti Backup. I verified in HBOOT that it was still S-OFF but they still wouldn't work. Decided to run the Restore to Stock again to turn S-ON. Once that was done, I immediately rooted again and then everything worked as it should. There may have been an easier way around this, but I didn't now what else to do. It was a long stressful night, but now I know there is a reliable path to get back up and running if I screw something up again.

Was the stock rom rooted? Cause even if you have s-off you can still have a stock rom without root.

I guess not. It was the ROM that was downloaded automatically through the hack kit. That makes sense (no pun intended.)

Hello. This worked great for me. I have noticed that the down load speeds are very slow. I did put the gb radio on the phone. Is there something else that needs to be done? Thanks in advance

It says there can't be iTunes installed, I assume this is on the computer? Why?

Because the software interferes with USB ports or some sort. Which is why some people in the past would have usb issues with them running old versions of the hack kit. The latest hack kit kills these services before starting so you may not need to uninstall the programs.

I have had the the inspire for quite a while and would like to root it. I believe I created the goldcard correctly but I cant seem to find the proper "ace hack kit". I probably am using the outdated version. Can someone send me a link to the new version of "ace hack kit". Thanks

hello i rooted with the advanced hack kit and successfully flashed new roms. well, after flashing the revolution hd rom and it working fine except the fact that rom manager and other apps couldnt get superuser permissions so i thought it'd be smart to try to re-root with the same hack kit.. big mistake.

it started the process and stopped and froze just after it dowgraded the radio. now im left with a phone that WILL boot to hboot with the android guy on a skateboard but after i select anything thing from that menu it just gotes to the white htc screen and then fades to black. :((((

i hope i didnt brick my phone for good, pleeeeeaaase help someone, anyone... i need my phone and i can make it worth your effort.... heeellllp and thanks.

I hqve got a HTC inspire trying to root it I am use the advanced hack kit I had read the effen manual and done everything it says but when I go to run the hack kit as adminstrator it wont let me and i have inzipped it also. I am useing Windows xp what do i need to do that I am not doing when i try to run the hack kit it justvsaysvthat there is an error what's is going on please help

Tried it...doesn't work. Read the effen manual til I was blue...still doesn't work. Keep getting "enter pass key msg"

I tried it on my PC first. I installed the drivers and ran the cmd file as admin. However, it gives me the error message that:

Either the phone is not plugged in
OR
The drivers are not installed
OR
The phone is not in USB debugging mode.

However, I have done all three of these things.
