Since We're Not Getting 2.1

i thinking of getting a g1 actually lol. just gonna buy one of clist then buy an extended battery...if i can ever sell this damn brick

Why in the hell would you do that when the MT3GS is coming out? the G1 is wayy too outdated soon G1 will become absolutely obsolete. Its more practical to wait a month or 2 when MT3GS floods clist not to mention any new HTC phone will be getting 2.2 froyo. G1 most likely won't even see Froyo or anything after words.

I was upset to find out that they're not going to support bh2 so I sold mine 2 days ago. I'm still looking for a suitable android phone. I have to say that I loved the size of the bh2 , not too big/not too small. And the camera was awesome. I used the nexus and the hardware was awesome. But not having dedicated call and end buttons, poor camera[htc can't coudn't make a decent camera if their lives depended on it], and iphone-like bulkiness were all turnoffs. I liked samsung but their locking of everything up is bit over the top. I see many posts regarding the mytouch slide, seems ok but like all t-mobile phones, its about a year behind the technology [plus I'm don't need a keyboard].

What are you guys considering ?

Am I the only one considering jumping to Sprint for the Evo 4g? It seems like the mytouch slide really isn't worth me adding 20$ more a month to my bill and a 2 year contract. The evo seems worth it.

Would you guys take the nexus one over the mytouch slide?

i'm going to stick with the bh2 and in a couple months get the mt3g 3.5mm solely because i don't like the physical keyboard. don't see myself going back to a physical keyboard due to touch screen technology...although the original behold pissed me off due to the calibration sucking majorly, only touchscreen i've had partial problems with lol.

i don't wanna spend $400 on a new phone. i don't want to get another contract. right now im on the even more plus

If you are on EM+ you have no contract which allows you the freedom to get any phone at any time. That's why you pay full price for the phone. SO you can sell the BH2 and move on. Unless you are talking about the EIP (equipment Installment plan) Which lets you spread out the cost of the phone over however many months. To back out of the BH 2 you would just have to pay off the balance of the phone and then put a different one on EIP.

Im right there with you. I rather pay 400 dollars then to sign up for that horrible 180, + 2year 80 per month contract.

Im on the even more + 60 per month plan also and it is awesome. Switching over to their plan only to get a phone for half price doesn't even add up as an advantage.

My way: $400 + $60 per month with no contract over 2 years=$1840
Their way: $180 + $80 per month, MIR with 2 year contract=$2100

Also you have the choice to still use your upgrade at anytime my way, in which Im pretty sure alot would want to do because who really falls in love with a phone for 2 years when there is so many better ones coming out every 6 months?

Could anyone explain why upgrading is a better option and why everyone is doing it instead?

I have a Family Plan and their EM+ Family with the options I had was actually more by about $10-12/month. The EM+ plans they came up with were really focused to get new single line users. I crunched the numbers a lot before deciding to stay with what I had plan wise.

Oh alright I understand. Wish I could do it like that also but my mom doesn't need a smartphone with a data plan  . The family plan way comes to $140 a month with limited minutes right?

Doesn't the EM+ family way can have $140 a month for unlimited everything?

Edit: Oh I see you don't get no discount on a phone with the EM+ plans.

The Evo 4g is great specwise but think about the crappy service and plans that you will get locked into.

I don't see anything on the gsm market that works with tmo stupid 1700 network that i would consider. There are some nice ones overseas, but again we would be stuck on edge. There are only a handful of androids that run on 1700: g1, mytouch, behold2, cliq, nexus, cliqxt, and whatever low end android that will land on tmo. I forgot the galaxy i7500 but that phone unfortunately is doomed to 1.6 too .

After much thought, i am going to go with a regular phone [sony ericsson c905] until some good/cheap second hand androids hit the market. Like many of you, I can't see locking myself into a 2 yr contract for any phone.

Actually a LOT of gsm phones work with T-mobile just not with Tmobile's 3g. Tmobiles 2g or so called edge will still work or in other words anything that works on AT&T will work for T-Mobile you would just have to buy them unlocked. If sprint and verizon has gsm then they could work too.

Never gonna happen. Only time we will see any sort of "Sharing" of Tech is when Verizon goes LTE (4G). The Sprint WiMax (4G) is doomed to just Sprint. at&t and T-Mo are going LTE but not for a while. I wish we could start migrating 2G tech already. But the Gov't Is to blame for the 3G fiasco. But I'm happy that Verizon is trying to Accelerate their LTE build out which means they don't want to held back by the CDMA stuff.

Around here Sprint has a very good signal while tmobile never has service. Also they only charge 69.99 for their smartphones plans while tmobile is 79.99. Even though you have to pay $10 more a month for 4g on the EVO, but theres other phones that are better then most tmobiles.

@ 2FR35H:
When i referred to 1700 tmo band, I specifically meant the tmo 3g -- sorry for the confusion. Its not worth using a netphone on edge --- way too slow and its easy to miss calls while surfing or checking email updates etc because the bandwidth limitations. The most feature-rich phone for tmo is the nexus -- but I already used it and didn't like it because of its bulkiness. And thats it -- everything else available for android is a 2007 technology unit with android slapped on top.

Ah.. okay

Remember all the talk of that HTC Bravo/Passion/Desire (or whatever other iteration) etc that was supposed to drop on Tmo in April? Where is it? That would be my next best guess at a replacement. It was supposed to trump the N1. Surely the MT3G cannot be that phone. There was no slide mentioned in the specs.

..not a fan of slides...reminds me of my son's former phone the Sidekick. Plus, I am Swype happy now. I *love* that keyboard!!!

Having gotten so burned on the Behold II, no way I'm even *looking" at the Galaxy...none!

well the htc vision just got passed by the fcc and it has a querty keyboard and a 480x800 res screen
i got my friend at the tmo store to let me play with the slide and im not convinced i don't want to get a new phone with dated hardware
