Siyah Gingerbread kernel (v2.x)

Let's see. Have so far lost 40% in 3 to 4 hours moderate use - does not appear to be any new wake locks, just massive drain from active apps and the large android os figure is back.....

(ironass must have a hospital appointment today, he's being rather quiet

and where's slug these days????)

He left his GS2 upstairs, and his stair lift is bust
:D

Cheeky monkeys! :D

I leave you alone for a few hours and you're up to all sorts of mischief.

Only just installed 2.4.1.

First reactions...

Possibly not as smooth as 2.4 for me. Only to be expected once that I read that Syd liked it! :(

Had to change my I/O scheduler to sio to get the scrolling a little smoother with my favourite smartassv2 governor. lulzactive with sio is also not too bad for me.

Seems to favour ondemand and conservative governors.

Using stock voltage, 100-1200MHz (it seems to favour 200-1200MHz). No Profiles.

Will give it a go on battery for awhile to see how it fairs... unless we get a 2.4.1i out soon!

Looks like poor old gokhanmoral, is getting fed up with some of the whining and bitching over on xda. Can't blame him.

UPDATE:
v2.4.1 lost 4% overnight (9 hours), comparable to v2.4
And updating Google Maps from 6.0.0 to 6.0.1 seems to have cured the overactive NetworkLocationPassiveCollector wakelock

I flashed 2.4.1 last night and my battery's been fleeced too. Although one of the partial wakelocks is "NetworkLocationPassiveCollector (com.google.android.apps.maps.Maps)" weighing in at a hefty 25m 22s (19.2%) since 0730 this morning. Not sure if this has something to do with it...

I think I'll stick to updating at the 2.X integer rather than going another level (for now :P)

the dreaded siyah stutter has returned..... i seem to find these kernels work well when first flashed, and then after a day or so the smoothness goes.:confused:

see my previous post butty

Looks like gokhanmoral has given up on .1i as the changelog for 2.4.2 is up. I'm happy to see the next update as have had a few random moments with the last. My phone just rebooted itself while browsing, and when it loaded up again about 20 different processes force closed. So I tried to flash a different kernel and all that did was put me in a boot loop. In the end I had to restore a backup.

Should be up within the hour.

I would like to find out more about the new intellidemand governor coming in 2.4.2. "Added intellidemand governor. this is a modified ondemand governor and very battery friendly."

Has anyone got any info about it?

Yeah I was trying to keep a straight face while writing that.

I'm liking the new governor. Its as smooth and quick as smartass and lulzactive have always been. So if it really its easy on the battery I'll be a happy guy.

Again I'm not too sure on the battery. At times it seems ok and then suddenly it gets rinsed. I had a few random wakelocks at first (no apparent reason according to better battery stats) but these seemed to have stopped. Anyway there's going to be plenty of time to test out all the siyah's as gokhanmoral is having a break until xmas.

I've installed 2.4.2.

There is a flashable lionheart governor. How does it compare with intellidemand, lulzactive and smartassv2?

I tried flashing the lionheart.zip with CWM, but the governor doesn't appear in no frills cpu control, although I see on my phone the file /system/etc/init.d/01lionheart

Does it just appear as "Conservative" governor rather than specifically as "Lionheart"? Anyone got it to work?

I'm struggling to keep up with all these new governors.

Thanks for the heads up, I liked lionheart when I was on void. From what I learnt then lionheart is a tweaked conservative governor so I think the zip just changed conservative to be like lionheart, hence no extra governor. On the other hand though I've had as few beers so I might be taking shit.

Plus side my battery drain had stopped. Ten minutes browsing and I'm down 1%

It's loading the settings in that script at startup, so it will be your default governor.

LOL! (and my own beer all over the desk, keyboard and monitor!) :D

edit @Shotgun84: the lionheart tweaks are

deadline scheduler
conservative governor
up_threshhold = 60
down_threshold = 30
freq_step = 5
recommneded sampling rate = 10000

Sorry about that Slug. Just send me the bill.:D

I've had a look in the zip and all it does is tweak conservative. I think.

I've slurped it all back up. Keyboard is still a tad sticky but that's nothing unusual. ;)

You were spot-on about the lionheart.zip - the beer hasn't dulled your powers of recall any. :)

I'm not quite sure what to say about that one. At the end of the day its a family forum:D

Well that one is definitely debatable.

I'm hard to impress apparently. But I am. Smooth as anything and over the last 1hr/half, 30 mins music,30 mins internet only down 8%. Not sure if that sounds impressive to you but in comparison I used to lose about 20.
