Siyah Gingerbread kernel (v2.x)

I've been running this Kernel for a few days now and along with some SetCPU profiles its improved my battery life drastically. I'm very happy with it. I'm just an average knowledge/user but this Deodexed/Siyah/KI3 combo is working really well for me. I've been on my battery for 12 hours today and have been using it very heavy (Games, FB, music, internet, text, and just messing around with setting) enough to have the display at 70% in Battery Usage and I'm still at 31%.

Default for this is ondemand/sio 200/1000

I've put the settings to lulzactive/sio 100/1000.

On golauncher, the smoothness of the menus is MUCH better when max is set to 1000 compared to 800.
For those on 800 max, try setting it to 1000 to see how it compares for you.

I tired going to 1000 for a couple of hours and I really didn't notice a difference, even playing some intense games. 100/800 seams to work well for me. I was running it at 100/200 when the screen was off and it worked pretty good for Music, Bluetooth, MMS, and all other notifications, but then first time I got a call it crashed. lol So I set it to 100/500 and it works perfect.

Seems as smooth as the last version and neak.
However i'm getting phone freeze waking up from deep sleep using ondemandx on 100 min.

i was running 2.6.5 and it caused a couple of SOD's today. no tweaks to the kernel, just stock. 2.6.4 ran fine, no probs.

have since flashed 2.6.6 and will see how it goes tomorrow. just wanted a backup of 2.6.4. on my SDcard in case i got any more SOD's (which i never got since i installed checkrom4/previous siyahs).

would appreciate a copy if poss slug :)

All versions prior to currrent (v2.6.6) have been pulled by the dev due to bugs that have now been fixed. If you really want it I can put it up for you in my Dropbox, but it's no longer supported.

I think I found a horrible battery draining bug on 2.6.5, so I'll now give 2.6.6 a shot. Here's the pic from overnight. No programs were left open and I haven't installed anything else. The only change was flashing 2.6.5:

I've also got all the Siyah versions going back to 2.2 (hording :P) if people want them.

You can instal either or both. They do different things. But I'd recommend both. Instal check rom first, then siyah

You don't need to be checkrom, you can flash the kernel on any rom or firmware (except ics, I think). Personally I would stay with 2.6.6 and if you're not impressed work your way back. There will be no "best one" as a kernel which works perfectly for one person will cause someone else loads of problems.

2.6.6 seems very smooth and battery friendly on default settings, I'll try other govs and undervolting later... if I get chance before 2.6.7, that is...:D

2.6.5 would have been good without that switching on when connected to charger bug

Been testing 2.6.6 until NEAK 1.4 comes out.
Just noticed something and wondered if anyone else is experiencing this.

Compare the smoothness of your homescreen scrolling with system power saving enabled/disabled.

Mine is MUCH smoother when disabled.
I'm not 100% sure of the benefits and merits of enabling this, as I've not noticed any huge difference in battery with it on or off, but for those who generally have it enabled, try switching it off and see if scrolling is smoother.

not sure at this point if its kernel related or a general thing across the board, so be interested to hear your comments.

Compare the smoothness of your homescreen scrolling with system power saving enabled/disabled.

Mine is MUCH smoother when disabled.

I see the opposite - a noticeable 'micropause' flipping between home screens with it enabled. Scrolling the app drawer doesn't seem affected but there's a definite difference on the home screen.

Running v2.6.6 with the latest Thunderbolt! scripts and a minimal (for me!) bootscript to set custom freq_table, UV_mV_table and screen brightness parameters only. Default governor and scheduler.

I always see mega reduction in overall smoothness when power saving is enabled. It must do it's own undervolting.

With 2.6.6 I have not experienced the same horrifying battery drain overnight that almost made me late for work (thankfully it survived long enough to ring my alarm).

siyah 2.6.6
2nd core running hotplugging
Criskelo rom
KP8 baseband

2% battery use overnight in comparison to 30% usage when my phone was stock, very happy chappy :)

I notice a few people have mentioned the Neak kernel. In the description, it says: "ONLY FOR SAMSUNG-BASED ROMs (NO CM/MIUI, NO ICS, neither samsung one)"

Does this mean that Neak cannot be used with Cyanogenmod?

Here I am, mulling over about giving Siyah 2.6.6 a run after a successful few days on N.E.A.K v1.3 and I notice that the changelog for Siyah 2.6.6i is already up!

Changelog:

some lulzactive changes are reverted back to have it scale slower.

ondemand governor is merged with ondemandx and intellidemand governors. use this for having better battery life.

some defaults (hotplug parameters and governor defaults) are tweaked to provide better battery life

some wifi changes to prevent very frequent wifi wakelocks.
