Siyah Gingerbread kernel (v2.x)

interesting to see .13 is coming with bundled apps.

Seems our discussion about kernels reaching a plateau was relevant, and "extras" are now being bolted on now as the main areas of update.

Should have fun testing it etc. But could be difficult due to the snow as Ironass is prob snowed in from the office(Pub)

Siyah v2.6.12 is up! :D

"because I could not finish the scripts and xan is still working on VC app, I released v2.6.12 with all code changes of v2.6.13 but without the OTA and config apps.

Changelog:

fixed BTHID issues (thanks to Entropy512)
updated SIO scheduler (thanks to Miguel Boton) and set it as default i/o scheduler once again.
some wifi driver changes to prevent wlan_rx wakelocks preventing the device to sleep
new cpuidle driver from galaxytab (thanks to Entropy512)
reverted top-off current back to default
some hotplug, gpu and cpu threshold changes

This is becoming tedious! :D
I'm sure gokhan and Simone do this on purpose!
I'll download it but I will stick with testing neak 1.3.3, seeing as I did download it first after all! :)

Looks as though 2.6.12 is a stop gap en route to gokhanmoral's, piece de resistance, Siyah 2.6.13.

I don't mind sticking with N.E.A.K. 1.3.3 for the time being in that case. :)

Looks like he's releasing them in 2's!

I am going to be quiet on this thread for a while since Siyah isn't on ICS yet. I don't think I can go back to GB now. Blast this amazing new Android!

It's all gone very quiet on the Siyah front. In fact, gokhanmoral doesn't seem to have made any posts since the 7th Feb. on his xda forum.

No release since v2.6.12 on the 5th Feb: Siyah v2.6.13 is still cooking. No bad thing though, as it gives time to thoroughly run the current crop of kernels to see how they perform.

He's currently got an important work project occupying most of his time. He warned that it might be a few weeks until .13 is released because of this.

I had a big scare with my phone: when I looked at it, I found it was off and very warm having been more than 50% charged this morning. It would not turn on.

I tried a colleague’s charger. When plugged in, it first showed the battery charge logo with a picture of a battery with a red cross through it.

I then tried my colleague’s battery and the phone seemed to start (although I just loaded into recovery mode not fully).

Then I put my battery back and charged again – this time it showed the battery charge logo with an exclamation mark. After a while, the exclamation mark disappeared.

It has turned on ok now and seems to be charging. Fingers crossed no permanent damage was done.

I'm running 2.6.11 with Cyanogenmod 7.1 and LP6 modem (underclocked and undervolted).

Anyone come across this before? Any idea what could cause this and what I could do to prevent it happening again?

EDIT: I've upgraded to 2.6.12 and LPH modem in case it's a bug in the 2.6.11 kernel or LP6 modem.

2.6.13 Change Log Posted on Siyah Blog:

Changelog:
 • fixed decoding issues because of the new cpuidle driver (thanks to Entropy512)
 • set default I/O scheduler to deadline
 • reverted lots of code back to v2.6.9 (based on the user experience, it is the best version until now)
 • completed universal config interface implementation (the app will be posted when it is finished. the implementation at the kernel side is ready)
 • this will be the last GB kernel release of SiyahKernel.
Hopefully we will see Siyah for ICS soon! I like the ICS OS but the batterylife is just horrible compared to GB. Hopefully we will see this improved soon!
