SKYPE - Front Camera now officially works!

Just updated to the newest official version of Skype. Front camera now works wonderfully. Only in Landscape mode but super clear and sharp...

Thanks for confirming this, I was looking on their website to see if it was supported, but didnt see anything
 
I just tried it and it seemed to break up a little on me. I was talking with my sister on her laptop at Panera's and the video would hang and then lag behind the audio. Also, while using video, we would get static when we both talked at the same time. Once I turned off video we had no problem with the audio. The video was very clear though. And even when my camera was turned off I could still see her video working.
I'm not saying it sucks, I'm just reporting what happened with me. I'll try it again in a day or two and see what happens. But if it's working for everyone else, then it must be me.
 
Weird, I've tried every version of Skype under the sun. And Tango and Yahoo and everything I can get my hands on, to no avail. Just the back camera works, although I get icons for both (and it seems to think it's using the front camera at times.)

Wonder if it's my ROM .__.

That's strange because Tango works perfectly for me with the FFC. And Skype was working fine until this last time when I tried it with the FFC.
 
are u guys getting the FFC to work on stock or CM7? cuz on cm7 i dont get no icons for skype at all to use cam, so if ur on CM7 how are u getting it to work lol? i hold phone in landscape mode and nada still so not sure, so any info would be appreciated, ty : )

From what I read, using an FFC at all in a 3rd-party app can break CyanogenMod badly enough for you to need to restore from a backup. So don't try it, not with CM7 at least!

Also, I found the root of my problem: Build.prop was spoofing the HTC Thunderbolt. When I restored to a stock build.prop or pretended my device was an Evo or Droid somethingelse, everything worked again!
 
I'm still on the factory ROM. I haven't yet got around to rooting or trying the CM7. Maybe once I'm done playing in the stock environment, but being new to Android, it'll be a little while.
 
Skype works fine in CM7 (my build) with the front cam. Tango does NOT; it's hosed. Tango "works" (sorta) on the stock ROM, but it was never stable for me.

Note that the "hacked" Skype is bad news - use the official one from the market.
 
I have Skype installed on the newest beta release of CM7. Everything works fine as far as front and rear camera. The only issue I am having is while being connected to WiFi and I put the phone up to my ear during a call the screen times out and my WiFi connects reboots due to the screen timeout. I've went thru every setting in this phone to try and change the screen from timing out while in call. Does anyone know a way of stopping the screen from timing out? I would like it to stay on unless I power the screen off. Thanks if anyone can help.
