Help Skyrocket ATT 4.0?

This is probably one of the most stupid questions, but I learned to always ask so here's the situation:

I am buying an ATT Skyrocket and planning on unlocking it. NOW assuming 4.0 is being released to ATT customers with that phone, would I be able to get the 4.0 update if hypothetically I was using a T-Mobile USA sim?

i could be wrong but I dont think you'd receive the update because you are not connected to the AT&T network. You would probably have to install it via Kies.

Simply unlocking (rooting) the phone should not prevent over-the-air updates. Uninstalling certain apps might.

This makes sense. I assumed I'd have to be on their network. Realistically I can take someones ATT Sim and throw it in there just to get the update am I wrong to assume that?

ALSO I was not planning on rooting it, simply unlocking the GSM network via unlock code.

Or grab the rooted update when available
