Skyrocket has jelly bean. Where is ours?

Here is a conversation I just had with an AT&T customer rep:
*note: My name is not Shirley.

Nicholas Brown: Hello, you want to know when Jelly Bean with become available for the Galaxy S2?
Shirley: yes
Nicholas Brown: I'm not sure but I would recommend calling Samsung to see when that is available.
Nicholas Brown: Samsung 888-987-4357
Shirley: The phone is through AT&T and they control when the update is released. Not samsung.
Nicholas Brown: I don't see that the Samsung Galaxy 2 will be coming out with an update to Jelly bean. You will have to contact the manufacturer for more info on whether or not they are going to be making an update for the Galaxy S II.
Nicholas Brown: Anything else I can assist you with today?
Shirley: So you are telling me that all other versions of the Galaxy S2 on other carriers including the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on AT&T got the update but that the regular Galxy S2 will not be getting it?
Nicholas Brown: I do see that the Skyrocket update became available on 04/10/2013 but I do not see anything for the S II
Shirley: Is there anyone at AT&T that I can talk to to see if the Galaxy S2 is scheduled to recieve the update in the near future?
Nicholas Brown: I'm sorry but there isn't.

I was afraid of that. But, I am surprised we got what updates we did.

I had an online chat with Samsung support, and asked them if the S2 SGH-i777 would be receiving the 4.1 update, and they gave me the canned "It's currently not available, and we cannot say when (or if) it will be in the future.

I tried to assure them that I would be okay with the reason if it's no, that I just wanted an answer....and they didn't budge.

Maybe AT&T is looking to phase out it's non-LTE phones?

Us S2 users are just rolling off our 2yr contracts, and maybe this is to get folks off the non-LTE phones by requiring you to upgrade to get the new OS.

It's worthless to phase them out (at least for the users)... LTE is not everywhere, and only major cities are getting the upgrades. I live on a little university town (~150,000 ppl) that probably won't upgrade to LTE for at least another 5 years :-/

Maybe they (ATT) are not looking to phase out non LTE devices, but why spend anytime on putting out a JB update to a device that most folks will be out of contract on in the next few months, if not already. Wouldn't make good business sense...so I'd like to see JB but it's not happening, at lease in an "official" way IMO

LTE phones are still HSPA (4G) compatible, and would work in your town

I'd agree with you, if it weren't for the fact that many of the folks that currently have SGS2 Skyrockets are also up for upgrades as well.
