SLCD is a reality!

This has been a rumor for months. I guess it's happening soon.

I know one thing... all the people that say the Droidx screen looks just as good as the Incredibles must be color blind. Two of my friends now have x's and neither of them represent colors as vividly as the incredible. Don't believe me? Both phones put the settings widget up in their screens and look at the difference between the greens on both phones. Night and day difference. I love my amoled.

This only matters if you get a refurb....
we have amoled already, just hope your phone doenst f-up., and if it does, cause a stink and maybe they will throw in one of those sexy white back batery doors lol

There is going to be a SKU change, so real deal..... Boot splash screen says amoled on stock 2.2- wonder if they changed that?

Yes sir! I went to VZW store to check out DX when it came out, I must say, it's way too washed out. Regular LCD just doesn't cut it anymore, SLCD is still quite acceptable.

im sorry but i dont have too much of a problem using my dinc in the sun... but then again how much time am i out directly in the sun... very little time

Im with ya! I was just predicting the way this thread was going to go (just like every screen related thread).

The difference in color vividness between the DX and Inc could be because of the display settings. Especially since they are two different companies (Moto and HTC). I read somewhere that HTC has increased the saturation on the displays which is why the colors look so good.

So I don't know if the SLCD's will have a noticeable difference from the AMOLED. I think comparing the screens on the DX and the Inc with the different display settings is not a fair comparison to say the least.

Actually, the Droid X's LCD represents color pretty accurately. It gets pretty close to sRGB spec. I guess in the end, though, it's all down to preference. I didn't really mind the Incredible's oversaturated colors when I had the phone, but I do prefer the Droid X's more natural tones.

this just sucks for us when we need a refurb, and for those buying the phone a the same price as us and getting LCD.

IMHO this is such BS.... it be true if we are talking about a 42-60" plasma. but on a 4" screen pretty is pretty. in your face beautiful colors are exactly what they are. beautiful.!!!! Iv'e compared side by side the X and the Dinc. while the colors might be more natural looking:rolleyes: there is no comparison in what looks better. the Dinc and its so called over saturated colors simply are beautiful to look at.

again. all my opinion. and like you said. preference

its not an lcd. its an slcd.

its a nice screen, stop whining. :)

I'm not whining. But OK.... I could care a less actually if I even got the slcd. Thanks though. I simply stated that this only affects those who would be getting refurbs. not a big deal, and no need to say "I'm whining". You always seem to have some sorta comment towards me. did I do something to you.

Read the last line in the photo. Those who get refurbs will get one with the same screen they originally purchased. Have an AMOLED? Need a refurb? You're getting an AMOLED.

the top quote sounded like a whine to me. the slcd does not make the phone any less valuable. you make it sound like you would be getting ripped off if you got one.

and no i don't comment specifically toward you or anyone. i read a lot of posts and respond either when i feel i can help or if i disagree with what is being posted. don't take it personal if i have disagreed with you before. no big deal just my opinion.

actually yeah, since AMOLED may be more rare in the upcoming production of the incredible, it DOES make the slcd phone less valuable.

I agree! The Droid X screen looks like crap. It looks like a fuzzy CRT monitor. Is it a regular LCD screen or an SLCD?

I'm glad I got my Incredible before they changed.
