First rule of rooting is to read the first couple of posts of the ROM thread at XDA to see what requirements the ROM may have. In this case, since it's an edit of CM 7.0.3, you should read the first few posts of the CM7 stable release thread as well.ok- so how do i go about installing this then?!
CyanogenMod 7.0.3 Light (HBOOT Bravo Oxygen) [11/05/11] - xda-developers
do i just need to flash the mod,or are there other things i ned to flash at the same time?
apps 2 sd etc.?
As you can guess from my sig I think dGB is a good (indeed excellent) ROM. But it's very much stripped down to the minimum. It's really intended for people who know what they are doing and what they like - a small, clean, minimal ROM designed to take up as little space as possible, leaving the user to add whatever they need as user apps. It's designed to be used with a custom memory table, to maximise internal storage, and you won't get the full benefit without that (if you want a2sd+ you would have to add that yourself, but if you like it I'd recommend the custom hboot instead).ok -- just installing Titanium now-- then gonna try install my first rom i reckon is DGB a good one to start with?!

If you want to see what a really minimal, streamlined Gingerbread is like, give it a go. But if all you've seen is the stock Sense ROM it may come as a bit of a culture shock! But hey, take a nandroid backup first (which you should anyway!) and you can try out as many ROMs as you like, and see what suits you - you can always restore the nandroid and go back to where you were.
If you are sure you won't need them, don't bother with a backup. But it's the work of seconds to back them up with Ti, and they won't take up much space.ok- yeh that seems a little more complicated than i expected, is there an easier one to go with at first just to have a go ?
thanks very much by the way!!
actually first i'm going to uninstall 'stocks' and 'footprints' -- should i back them up first- even though i will never have a need for them?!
I will apologise in advance if this has been answered, however I cannot seem to see it being covered anywhere.
I have recently updated to the official 2.3.3 patch from HTC, and it's nothing bad, but it isn't a substitute for rooting.
I was curious, is there any method of rooting from the 2.3.3? I will also add, I am a COMPLETE noob when it comes to rooting, and I feel overhwelmed by it all, unsure what is really meant by RUU, ROM, Goldcard.. I can follow instructions et, however I would like to know exactly what I'm doing. Any pointers on this would be most appreciative.

Yes, if newly rooted I'd not expect you to know much about custom memory tables or hboots!ok thats sounds good-- except i don't really know much about custom memory tables bit or custom hboots etc. but i would be ok with a stripped down system adding my own launcher etc.
(i take it i just add the apps2sd by flashing it?!)
so do i just back it all up with titanium and the back up in recovery--- and then flash the DGB?
You want convincing? It's the fastest ROM I've ever used, damned good on the battery (by Desire standards - I've also added a custom kernel to improve this further), completely stable and "just works". And using a custom hboot I've 125 apps installed and 120MB free (larger apps moved to sd from the applications menu).Seriously thinking about trying this new dGB ROM!?
Convince me Hadron!
/makes a back up in prep!

Well if you want to try oxygen I'd go for 2.2 rather than 2.0, but you'll probably have to visit the Oxygen forum for that.[ROM-AOSP GRH78C] Oxygen v2.0-RC7 (Gingerbread, clean, fast and 100% open-sourced!!) - xda-developers
so you reckon definetly go for the DGB one over this ^^

Personally I prefer dGB, but ROM choices are personal.
